Majorly, diabetes is segregated in 3 types - Type 1, Type 2 & gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused due to damage of the cells in pancreas generating Insulin. Type 2 is caused when the cells are not able to properly utilize the insulin generated in the body. It is mostly developed because of the bulkiness in the body. Gestational diabetes is developed in women during their pregnancy period.



Excessive urination, excessive thirst and increased fluid intake and blurred vision, these are some of the symptoms of diabetes. While other symptoms may be increased hunger, that is getting hungry often, vomiting, nausea, tiredness, being quite many often, restless behavior and an apathetic attitude in case of children, inability to focus attention, deep breaths with fruity odor.

Diabetes is growing as a major health problem with millions of cases rising in almost every country. This number continues to rise further. Millions of cases still continue to increase everyday. Many of the cases worldwide remain undiagnosed and hence, unreported. Many of these cases are found in urban areas. Only 1 out of 10 is found in rural areas while 9 may be the case from urban parts. Excess body weight, a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle are the leading cause of type 2 diabetes which is why it is more prevalent in urban areas.

Each year, 3.8 million people die due to diabetes related issues. Cardiovascular disease is thought to be the reason behind the greater number of diabetes related deaths. At present, there are approximately 246 million people faced with diabetes, by the year 2025, this number is expected to increase by 380 million people.

Various preventive measures are being taught to bring diabetes under control, to assist in lowering the death rate due to this disease. By eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly one can reduce the risk of getting diabetes by thirty percent. A healthy diet consists of eating foods that are free of processed carbohydrates and are low in fats. Eating five or six smaller meals is nutritionally smarter than eating one large meal. Exercise burns calories, calories burn fat, thereby reducing the blood sugar levels. A great, easy exercise that increases the metabolic rate is walking. Even going for a half hour to a one hour walk daily burns calories and helps reduce the fat. A nutritious diet, smaller meals more often, and exercise are some ways to lower the risk of this potentially deadly disease.

It is suggested that people should get their blood sugar level checked from time to time. This again helps in gaining a win over diabetes. Since people get their sugar level checked, they can reduce sugar level if it rises. And if diabetes is diagnosed, they have good chances of keeping themselves protected anyway.
