A number of neuromuscular dentists have joined together to form a group of more than two hundred dentists nationwide that are offering a new and improved mouth guard that has been designed to enhance any athletic performance. This new improved mouth guard works by allowing the athlete's jaw and neck muscles so that they will relax completely, which in turns opens up the athlete's airways. The result being improved strength, balance, and flexibility in the jaw and neck muscles of the athlete. Ultimately, these dentists have discovered that the muscles within the head have two separate functions with the first one being giving the individual the ability to chew.

The other job of the muscles within the head is being responsible for positioning the jaw so that when the individual swallows that their teeth will come together. Although the teeth come together, it does not mean that the muscles are in a relaxed state, but when the individual does place the mouth guard between their teeth then it will help them achieve relaxation.

Over ninety percent of all individuals do not have a perfectly complete alignment of the jaw. This is basically due to the muscles that surround your temples, which are the two muscles that tend to bulge out when ever you chew gum, are totally responsible for reigning the lower jaw in alignment with the upper jaw. When the jaw does relax the muscles in the neck and other core muscles do not fight each other anymore due to the fact that they are bracing and are now completely flexible to give better balance. However, when individual athletes use this mouth guard this allows the upper and lower jaw to align more perfectly.
