Eye Exercises To Correct Vision

    View:
What used to be a mere wishful thinking for people with eyesight difficulties can now be a reality. Because of the modern vision correction solutions offered today, people with eyesight problems may acquire a near-perfect vision and still look splendid and in-the-crowd! Gone are the oppressive days when geeks are obviously geeks and people wearing thick eyeglasses are classified solely as doctors or CPA's. Today, there are two popular treatment methods for blurred vision and poor eyesight. Through these processes, one can do without eyeglasses and still have a pair of sharp eyes.

Laser Eye Surgery

Refractive laser eye surgery is among the leading vision correction procedures. This process balances the elements of your eyes by doing some changes on your cornea so that your eyesight will be able to focus on objects; this procedure minimizes your error of refraction. Once laser eye surgery is done, you will have no need for your reading glasses. This is the reason why, refractive eye surgery is also considered as a lifestyle change on top of being a medical process.

Refractive laser eye surgery may be done in two ways. One is through Photorefractive Keratectomy or PRK. Or two, via Laser In Situ Keratomilieusis better known as LASIK. These two processes basically remodel the cornea by melting or taking away certain corneal tissues.

In Photorefractive Keratectomy or PRK, changes in the cornea are done directly on the external coating of the eyes, directly on the covering of the iris. By using laser technology, parts of the cornea is taken away to improve the focus of the eyes. Due to the direct approach of this procedure, patients should expect some pain and even irritation of the eyes for a few days after the treatment.

On the other hand, Laser In Situ Keratomilieusis or LASIK is a more complicated procedure where a flap in the cornea is created to reveal its middle section. It is in this middle section called stroma that the laser will vaporize certain corneal tissues. After the laser treatment, the flap of corneal tissue is carefully repositioned or folded back to cover the eyes. In this procedure, you can see that the operation pinpoints the specific corneal tissues to vaporize. For this reason, LASIK surgery is more popular because it is comfortable and requires less time for the patient to recover.

Laser eye surgery is applicable for cases like blurred vision caused by the shape of cornea, nearsightedness, and farsightedness. But what happens to people who are not fit for this type of eyesight correction?

Lens Modification Process

Believe it or not, in an age where lasers are fast becoming ordinary medical tools, there are cases where lasers can be useless. Take the case of people with extraordinarily thick corneas or people with severe irregularities in their cornea, these types of patients are not eligible for laser surgery. But for the sake of ditching the horn-rimmed glasses and attaining good vision, people who are not fit for laser eye treatment may choose to have a lens modification procedure instead.

Lens modification can be done via two processes. The first one is the traditional procedure where the natural lenses of the eyes are replaced with artificial ones. This procedure may entail risks that include the patient's loss of sight focus with things that are near him or her. The second type of lens modification, on the other hand, simply inserts artificial lenses on top of the natural ones.

Indeed, one of the reasons that eye experts came up with these procedures is to correct one's vision and allow patients to have better eyesight without the cumbersome eyeglasses or easily-lost contact lenses. In effect, these eye sight procedures provide patients with more comfort and allow them to uncover their beautiful eyes without compromising eyesight.

Always remember that these procedures are not only medical treatments, they also provide a way for self-improvement. After you have corrected your eyesight, make sure that you also improve the skin around your eye area. What good is it to ditch your eyeglasses only to reveal eye bags and dark eye circles? For beautiful skin around your eyes, use products like Eyederma. Visit www.Eyederma.com for more details about attaining healthy looking eyes.
Eye Exercises To Correct Vision
Some examples of vision errors are nearsightedness or myopia; farsightedness or hyperopia; and, astigmatism or distorted vision caused by irregularities in the cornea.

Like in any other surgery, LASIK entails some risks. Thus, before you decide to undergo this modern way of correcting vision problems, you may need to discuss in length with your doctor various issues like pre- and post-operative care, risks and possible outcome.

Your medical condition and visual requirements in your work may also be a consideration you need to discuss with your doctor. Even before that, you may need to check with your company administrator if you may be allowed to undergo LASIK eye surgery, there may be some restrictions in your company, which you need to know before discussing LASIK with your doctor.

If your doctor decides, based on your condition and other factors affecting your life, that LASIK is not for you, there are other ways to correct vision problems. So, you need not despair.

Additionally, if your health condition and employment will not allow that you undergo laser surgeries like LASIK, you may opt to wear eye glasses or contact lenses instead.

Do not allow your doctor, a friend or a family member to pressure you into undergoing LASIK surgery. It may help if you can discuss with your doctor the following:

Is LASIK good for you?

Risks of the surgery

Before, during and after the procedure

IS LASIK GOOD FOR YOU?

LASIK may be good for you if you are ready to face consequences such as complications and possible risks of the procedure. Some people opt not to undergo LASIK because of the risks involved.

You may undergo LASIK surgery if it will not jeopardize your career. Some jobs prohibit refractive procedures, thus it is a good recommendation that you check with your employer to see if you may be allowed to undergo the procedure.

LASIK is quite an expensive procedure; if you can afford it, then, by all means undergo the procedure after considering the risks involved.

LASIK may be performed if you are 18 years old and above, no doctor will perform the surgery to anyone below 18 years old.

RISK FACTORS INVOLVED IN LASIK SURGERY.

Patients may loose some lines of vision. Because of the procedure, you may develop vision problems that eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery may not be able to correct. This is a major risk, which you may need to consider.

Patient may develop severe dry eye syndrome. As a result of the surgery, the eye may not be able to produce enough tears to keep the eye moist and comfortable.

For farsighted patients, good result of the procedure may diminish as you age.

Monovision surgery may result in poorer quality vision and a decrease of depth perception. Monovision is where you use one eye to see images nearby and the other eye to see far images. This may result in poor quality vision that may be permanent.

BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE PROCEDURE

If you wear contact lenses, you may need to stop wearing them before your baseline evaluation. If you are a hard lens user, you may need to stop wearing them at least four weeks before the baseline evaluation.

Stop using creams, lotions, makeup and perfumes the day before the procedure.

During the surgery, you may need to arrange for somebody to drive you to the doctor and to bring you home after the surgery.

You may also need somebody to assist you because you will feel discomfort in the eye area such as burning or itching. Mild pain may also be present and if you want, you may ask your doctor for mild pain reliever.

24 to 48 hours after the surgery, you may need to visit your doctor. Regular check-ups may also be necessary during the first six months after the procedure.

During this period, your vision may not still be stable but it will wear off in time.

Finally, after considering the risks and the possible outcome of the procedure, you may want to think it over if LASIK surgery is what you want. Do not allow external pressure to force you into undergoing the procedure, you need to decide for yourself after considering all the factors mentioned.
