So we must always be careful about what we really mean when we speak of this non - resistance and ideal love. We must first take care to understand whether we have the power of resistance or not. Then, having the power, if we renounce it and do not resist,we are doing a grand act of love; but if we cannot resist, and yet, at the same time, try to deceive ourselves into the belief that we are actuated by motives of the highest love, we are doing the exact opposite. Arjuna became a coward at the sight of the mighty array against him; his "love" make him forget his duty towards his country and king. That is why Sri Krishna told him that he was a hypocrite; Thou talkest like a wise man, but thy actions betray thee to be a coward; therefore stand up and fight!
Such is the central idea of Karma-Yoga. The Karma-Yogi is the man who understands that the highest ideal is non - resistance, and who also knows that this non - resistance is the highest manifestation of power in actual possession, and also what is called the resisting of evil is but a step on the way towards the manifestation of this highest power, namely, non - resistance. Before reaching this highest ideal, man's duty is to resist evil; let him work, let him fight, let him strike straight from the shoulder. Then only, when he has gained the power to resist, will non - resistance be a virtue.
I once met a man in my country whom I had known before as a very stupid, dull person, who knew nothing and had not the desire to know anything, and was living the life of a brute. He asked me what he should do to know God, how he was to get free."Can you tell a lie?" I asked him. "No," he replied. "Then you must learn to do so. It is better to tell a lie than to be a brute, or a log of wood. You are inactive; you have not certainly reached the highest state, which is beyond all actions, calm and serene; you are too dull even to do something wicked." That was an extreme case, of course, and I was joking with him; but what I meant was that a man must be active in order to pass through activity to perfect calmness.

Fda Part 11 Compliance
We began walking down a street that had lovely little tourist shops on both sides. We continued chatting happily as we walked. Suddenly,we came to a point outside of town where the street divided into two, one side going on as if to the ocean and the other coming back toward the town. At this junction she paused, looked at me sadly and said, ?I must go now. But look for Gideon. He will come to you again. Don't worry, for as you can see, I am well. No more pains. I love you. I'll see you again, soon.? She was gone, and I was left alone taking the road back to town.
The dream dissolved, and I awoke with the feeling that something important was afoot. For the first time since Mardai died, I felt at peace. Yet, what did she mean by telling me to look for Gideon? Of course, I'd been hoping that he would visit again. I could certainly use some help and encouragement at this low point in my life. And Gideon always had a way with words. His ability to illustrate a point with meaningful examples was extremely helpful. I strongly felt that a little help and guidance were in order.
Much as I would have liked to stay in bed a little longer, that was not possible. There were the children to look after and other matters to attend to, such as going to work. I did not like to leave Malika and Jonathan alone for long periods of time, but occasionally this could not be avoided. It was not because of any special concern, but rather that I missed them while we were apart, and was comforted by their closeness and the connection to their mother they provided me. After routine tasks were completed, I said good-bye to the children, left them in the care of their grandparents and drove to the office.
