Gold is used in a number of industries for a number of purposes. The most commonly known use for gold is in traditional jewelry. Other uses include embroidery, plating less precious metal, electronics and certain types of machinery. With so many markets available which use gold, it is no wonder why cash for gold services seek to meet the needs of producer and consumer.

Several services have popped up over recent years which offer cash for gold. These services accept privately owned gold (of varying amounts) in exchange for cash. This type of service is targeted at those with extra gold lying around, usually in the form of old jewelry or pieces of scrap gold collected from other sources (like false teeth). This doesn't mean that you have to start digging up the coffins of local cemeteries in the hopes of getting cash for gold from the false gold teeth lying. If, however, you have a few old pendants or necklaces which you haven't worn in a while; it is a quick way to get a big pay day based on the purity and weight of the product. Earning potential is only limited by how much gold you can send in.

Cash for gold services are more beneficial than pawn shops because cash for gold services employ appraisers who specialize in precious metals. This means that the people who appraise the gold don't also appraise televisions and guitars. This means that you will get fair market value for your gold.

The procedure with most services offering cash for gold is relatively similar. The owner of the gold will receive a postage paid envelope which will be used to ship the gold product to the company. A few weeks later, a check will be cut for the value of the gold and sent to the sender.
