Green Mound Juniper Bonsai

    View:
Juniper Bonsai care is not difficult. The most important thing is to follow a few simple rules and you should have success with your bonsai. Even though some trees prefer more shade, the juniper does best with a lot of light. It should receive a minimum of four hours of direct sunlight each day. When you are shopping for a tree, you want to select a tree that is between three and seven years old. You can inquire of your local garden center the age of the tree. If you opt to buy through mail order, it is important that the company can ship your tree overnight so that you are more inclined to get a healthy tree.

To get the real thrill of producing a work of beauty it is a better idea to get a young juniper tree and work on it ,shaping and designing as per your artistic sense, by pruning and training it. The older ones have been handled and pruned and trained already for years . However, what to choose is your wish, but a young tree will require a lot of patience, as it will take a lot of time in being trained. Please remember junipers need a lot water as well as sunshine.

Juniper Bonsai care can be easy because it stands up to all types of weather. By placing it a humidity tray it will assure it grows into a true beauty! The key is the proper levels of humidity

The Green Mound Chinese Juniper is a type of conifer that comes from Japan. It grows best in a 5 zone in full sun to semi-shade. Liquid food and liquid fertilizer need to be used every month for you tree to flourish.

Re-potting juniper bonsai is usually done once the plant has been in the same spot for somewhere between two and three years. If you are considering re-potting your juniper tree, keep in mind that the best time to do so is in the early spring. All you need to do is extract the juniper tree and its root ball from its pot. If this tree is wired, you can easily clip and remove the wire.

Next, you will need a pair of sharp scissors. You will use this tool to trim the root ball. Takes the bulk off from the sides and the bottom (approximately half of an inch). You can now replant you juniper in a clean pot that have well-drained soil. Immediately following re-potting, it is recommended that you place the tree in a shaded area for four weeks. After which, you can begin feeding it liquid food.

It is important to keep in mind that each different tree needs its own separate attention; however, Juniper Bonsai care is not complicated if you keep a few simple steps in mind. Remember that the best time to prune this tree is during the late spring and early summer months. You can do so on an as-needed basis until about mid-September. When new growth is around one inch long, use your fingers and thumb to pinch back approximately half of an inch and tug slightly.
Green Mound Juniper Bonsai
Considered as one of the most popular forms of bonsai, the Juniper has numerous varieties which include the Japanese Garden Junipers, Shimpaku, Chinese Junipers, Green Mound, just to name a few. Easy to manage, the Juniper can both grow indoors and outdoors, but it must be kept outside during winter for it to experience the dormant stage. By following this guide of proper care for Junipers, your tree will flourish and will not experience any difficulty while growing.

?Water your Juniper like most bonsai. Before watering your plant, check the soil by sticking your finger about half an each in the soil or if it is on a rock, lift it and feel the soil under it. If the soil is still moist, limit the amount of water that you'll pour on your bonsai to prevent root rotting. It is a general rule to never let you bonsai go dry for a long time. Although there are bonsai that prefer short dry periods, keeping your bonsai dry for extended periods will surely kill your plant. When watering your bonsai, allow the soil to absorb the water first before pouring another one. Eventually, you will soon be able to determine a schedule depending on the climate of your area.

?Your Juniper will need filtered sunlight. Avoid exposing your bonsai to direct sun.

?It is also important to use fertilizer on your Juniper. Use organic liquid fertilizer and feed your plant once every two weeks during spring and fall. A chemical fertilizer can also be used but it should be diluted. Follow the instructions given by the manufacturer.

?Your Juniper should be repotted every two years when it is still young or about 5-6 years old then every 3-5 years thereafter. Although it can be repotted in any time of the year, the best time is during spring or fall. After repotting place it in a cool and shady area and give liberal amounts of water until new roots appear.

?Provide it also with proper winter care by keeping it under cool temperatures usually under 600F to allow it to rest. Avoid exposing it to dry winds and extreme cold temperatures by using window wells, mulch beds or enclosed unheated rooms.

Following these instructions properly will help maintain your Juniper bonsai healthy and always beautiful. Read more about Juniper bonsai and have fun with your plant.
