Watercolors are used to paint beautiful sketches and fill them with different colors. It takes just a few minutes for the colors to dry. But the drying of these colors depends on the climate and the blowing air. During the humid climates, it takes a long time for the pictures painted with the watercolors to dry.
During such circumstances, it becomes a big problem to dry the colors. If they do not dry, there are full possibilities that the painting may be harmed or may be destroyed. The colors can get spread on the sheet thus making the painting look dirty. To avoid these unwanted mistakes, we can possibly use a hair dryer to dry these water colors quickly. But there are a few points that should be taken care while using the hair dryer. These important points are described below.
1.The dryer should not be at a higher speed when being plugged in and started. This will spread the colors more than before. Thus destroying the complete painting. Also this may cause the colors to over dry. This will convert the water in the color to just get converted in to steam. It can also cause the paper on which the painting is made to burn out.
2.It is thus advisable that the hair dryer should be put at a lower speed which will slowly dry the water color in the painting.
3.The paper should be held from all the sides or more preferably spread on the floor and suppressed under weight.
4.A small distance should be maintained before starting the hair dryer. A distance of at least 10 inches (25 cm) should be kept between the surface of the paper and the dryer.
5.The hot air from the dryer should not be enforced at a single point. It should be moved back and forth and also sideways alternately. This will avoid the uneven spreading of the color on the paper.
6.To avoid the buckling of the sheet due to the drying of one part of the painting before the other, the dryer should be used along all the sides of the painting.
7.If an unstretched paper is used, then the hair dryer should be used on both the sides of the paper (front and the back side).
After the dryer is used to dry the water color we should never put our finger on the color to check if it had dried or not. If the color still hasn't dried, our finger print might get traced on the painting. Thus the painting should be touched after sometime of drying.
