Had you asked me two years ago if a person that was three feet tall and speaks broken English had any power over me, I would have told you 'not really'. I mean, how could a barely literate midget really have any power over a college educated grown man? I'll tell you how??..if that midget is your daughter. I also find it interesting that I still don't care much for other people's children. But my daughter?..that's a whole different ball game.
I've been raising Cameron for a while now and am still amazed by this whole process. Why I was hesitant to have kids still escapes me, although the fact that I was incredibly selfish probably has something to do with it. And the power that this child has over grown people also escapes me at times. It doesn't seem like it should be possible, but it most certainly is. She more or less controls her Grandparents, strangers at the store, her Mom, and most definitely her Dad.
I mean to tell you, George "the truth teller" Bush wishes he possessed the kind of power three year old Cameron possesses. She can make one of the cheapest (or should I say most frugal) Dad's on the planet buy some piece of crap toy at the checkout of any store on this earth simply by holding it up and looking at him! How is this possible, it seems like only yesterday I was trying to battle my way through a twelve pack of beer while debating such important issues as who was the best college football team on any given Saturday. Amazingly that all important question still hasn't been answered.
But then Cameron showed up on this planet and I no longer have to waste my time worrying about, what seem like now, to be some of the most trivial subjects ever created. No, now there are much more important things to consider, such as how children possess the power that they do. And the answer to this question is really quite simple. Children possess the power that they do simply because they are our children! I think some questions don't need a complicated answer.
