Skirts can be beautiful, or they can create an image that is not very positive for a woman. The length of a skirt is extremely important. If the skirt is too short, a woman could get the wrong kind of attention, or it just won't look good for her body type. If a skirt is too long, it might look awkward for her body type or make her look more conservative than she is.



Short Skirts

A short miniskirt is not for everyone. The younger you are, the more appropriate a short skirt might be. Sometimes short skirts expose parts of a woman's body that just shouldn't be exposed! If you aren't able to sit down, or bend down, without showing your panties, the skirt is just too short for you. Also, even though the skirt might fit you well, if you are older, especially if you are a mom, your skirt should not be as short as a junior high school student. At the knee or lower is better for women over 30. Even if you have nice legs, covering them just a little can look more attractive than exposing them completely.

Long skirts

Skirts that are down to your ankles are not always flattering. If the skirt is straight with a slit, it can be very appealing. If it is pleated and it flows outward, it can make a woman look shorter and wider than she actually is. It can also make a younger woman look older and extremely modest, and an older woman look even older. A longer skirt can go just below the knee and look rather nice. If the skirt is at an awkward length, like at the middle of the shin, it might look like the woman is trying to wear a skirt that is too small for them. That can look funny!

The length of your skirt depends on your age, height and body type. If you take your time and put thought into selecting the appropriate length for your skirt, you will probably find out for yourself what the best length is for you. Try out different lengths and styles of skirts. You might b surprised as to which length and style actually works for you. You will never know unless you try some skirts on.

Remember that not all short or long skirts work for every woman. Use your own judgment about what works for you.
