How To Laminate Flooring

    View:
Improving your home and the d'cor is important to all of us. Most of us take great pride in our homes. So why wouldn't we want it to look great? Our floor is as important as the walls and the furnishings. In this article we are going to discuss a quick way to transform any room, even on a shoestring budget.

Do you need to redo your flooring? Or maybe you just have a couple of places that you need to patch up. Why hire someone and pay him or her for the labour when here is a way that is inexpensive and easy. You can do it yourself in no time at all.

This way is known as quickstep laminate flooring. This innovative flooring system is designed to lie down and look great for many years to come.

Let me give you a little information on it to make your decision just a little easier.

First of all, the wood is printed on a piece of paper and then has melamine resin on the backside. There is a clear coat on the front for extra protection. Now, it is not scratch proof but it is proven to last longer than your average counter top. It is made out of recycled paper and natural ingredients.

Quickstep laminate flooring is very easy to maintain. It is important to keep loose dirt off it to prevent any scratches.

All you have to do is run a wet mop across and you're good to go. It is also stain and dent resistant and you do not have to worry about fading as fast as your more expensive wood and stone floors and it is very fast and easy to install.

There are several points to consider before you buy and lay your new floor.

* You will need the measurements of the room.

* Keep odd sized walls and closets in mind when figuring how much of the flooring in which you will need.

When you have figured all of that out then you will need to decide the shade in which you want. In which there is a vast selection of colours that will either lighten or darken your room.

Once you have decided on that, then it is time to purchase and install your new floor which is actually very easy to do, as you will need to simply make the cuts and fit it within the grooves.

In all actuality, the longest time that it takes to install this floor is first of all choosing and secondly making the cuts.

This flooring system is designed to provide quality long-term use without the work. It is easy to lay as well as to maintain and is actually less than half the cost of natural or real wood. You can now make any room look as effective as real wood without the effort or the expense.

Now walk into your home. Not only can you be proud of the work that you have done, but you have saved a great deal of money in the process.
How To Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring is made up of several layers:

The surface is a hard as nails film, normally made of aluminum oxide. Right underneath the surface film is a photographic image or decor paper (usually of wood), to give the flooring the look of a natural wood floor. The core of laminate flooring is made of various materials, most often high density fiberboard, or wood particle board. The final layer of laminate flooring is the backing, made of various materials. Backings made of laminate material are superior as far as water or moisture damage is concerned.

Laminate flooring may be installed over any kind of sub floor, as it is not directly attached to the sub floor, but is a “floating” floor. Many laminate flooring manufacturers use a “click system” on the tongue and groove joints, so you can just fit the joints together and you are ready to go. Other manufacturers require you to glue the pieces of flooring together, but in either case, you do not need to nail the floor to the sub floor.

If you are laying the laminate flooring directly over a concrete sub floor, you'll need to lay down a damp proof membrane, a.k.a. DPM, before laying the flooring. This is to keep moisture from seeping up through the floor into the laminate flooring.

Laminate flooring has quite a few benefits: affordability, low maintenance, ease of installation, attractive looks, and more. It also has a few drawbacks, though: it's not as durable as real wood, doesn't absorb sound well, doesn't feel as warm to your cold feet on winter mornings, and may warp if it is exposed to moisture.
