How To Make Gift Basket

Making a gift basket can be a fun do-it-yourself project. Gift baskets make ideal gifts for most anyone. Co-workers, your boss, new mothers, children -- anyone would love a gift basket made with love and care. These baskets are not only attractive and eye-catching; they're able to be filled with a multitude of fun items. While you can find ready-made baskets, it's much more special to make one yourself. All the supplies you'll need, other than the gifts, can be purchased at your local craft store.

The first thing you'll need to do before beginning this project is think about who you're making it for. For example, a basket created for a new mom will be very different than one for a co-worker. Start by making a list of the recipient's interests and preferences. Their hobbies, their favorite color, their favorite foods -- all of these things can come into play.

A new mom would love baby items like bottles, washcloths, baby shampoos and lotions, rattles, and a little something for herself like some bubble bath or herbal tea bags in a cute mug. A co-worker would enjoy something like gourmet coffee, cheese and crackers, some nice ink pens, and a stress relieving squeeze ball or other cute office-related gadget. You can do theme baskets as well. Examples of good themes include spa, golf, bath and body, stress relief, gardening, coffee, tea and gourmet food. Use your imagination and come up with a theme that you think would delight your recipient. If you're stretched for ideas, take a look at some pre-prepared gift baskets and see the types of items they include.

You'll need an attractive basket that has enough room for the gift basket filler and all the items you want to include. You could even use an attractive bucket or wooden box. Speaking of filler, shredded paper in the recipient's favorite color works well. You can also try colorful confetti or even fake moss. After adding the filler to the basket, it's time to artfully arrange the gift items. It's important that the basket looks full. If your basket looks sparse, either choose a smaller basket or add more items to your existing one. After you've placed the gifts in a pleasing arrangement, choose clear or colored cellophane and wrap the basket. A colorful bow in a complementing color makes a great finishing touch!

How To Make Gift Basket

1. Food gift baskets

You know the usual gift baskets. Food, wine and all that jazz.

Well, a fruit basket filled with fruit harvested from your garden would be wonderful... if the seasons permit it. If not, if you made jams and preserves from harvested fruit, these would be wonderful in the gift basket.

* Get a wicker basket.

* Put a huge box of biscuits you baked yourself at the bottom of the basket.

* Arrange colorful bottles of jam on top of that box, with a bottle of wine in the center.

* Use a clear adhesive tape to hold everything in place.

* Then wrap the entire basket and its contents with cellophane paper. * Tie a ribbon around the wine bottle for the finishing touch.

2. Makeover gift basket

Know of a plain jane you would like to makeover into a lovely swan? Drag her to the mall and get her to try out various dresses until you find one she looks amazing in. Buy that for her.

Drag her to the makeup counter for one makeover after another and when you find a look she looks fabulous in, and buy the makeup used to create that look.

Cart her to the shoe shop and pick a pair of high heels that fit her and which go with the outfit.

If she still lets you live, put the shoes, dress and makeup in a basket and wrap it with cellophane. No doubt it wouldn't be a surprise, but that would probably be the gift that she would remember more than anything else. She might be embarassed when you get her to use that gift at a party, but I'm sure she'd be pleased whether or not she shows it.

3. Jewelry gift basket.

Your gift basket need not really be in a basket. You could even use those compartmentalized boxes for fish bait for this jewelry gift basket.

Get a collection of earrings you know she would like. Costume jewelry would be wonderful. Cubic Zirconia earrings and jewelry are very affordable. You might even put in a necklace or two and other jewels that fit into these compartments.

Once every compartment is filled, decorate the box by gluing color paper on the lid and letting your artistic talent loose as you write a message on it using metallic ink.

Wrap it up and give her this treasure chest for Christmas.

Besides these gift baskets, you can make a gift basket according to the hobbies of the recipient. If he loves golf, take a golf bag and fill it with golf balls, golf t-shirt, and golf related items.

If she travels often, fill a compact box with travel sized mini lipsticks, mascara, makeup, skincare and the like.

If he loves snowboarding, fold and pile some snowboarding clothes on top of a brand new snowboard, using the snowboard as the gift basket. How it looks depends on your creativity. Can you make it look like a Christmas tree?
