There are many types of pressure transducer used in industry, with varying performance, measurement ranges and size, depending on the application. The main type of pressure transducer can be categorized as follows:
Piezoresistive pressure transducer
This consists of a pressure diaphragm fitted with fixed resistors. Under the pressure-induced strain, the resistors change their value. The resistors are arranged in a Wheatstone bridge and this produces a voltage output proportional to pressure
Capacitive pressure transducer
In capacitive technology, the pressure diaphragm is one plate of a capacitor that changes its value under pressure-induced displacement.
The Piezoresistive pressure transducer has the advantage of small size, and low power consumption coupled with good accuracy. Capacitance pressure transducer types, are very accurate, especially at low ranges, but are physically larger, and prone to temperature errors.
For most industrial applications the piezoresistive pressure transducer is ideal. Typical size is no more than 80mm long by 25mm diameter, with measurement ranges from vacuum up to 2200 bar, and accuracy up to 0.1% of full scale range.
What sort of process measurements would a pressure transducer be used for?
The applications are very varied but the most common one would be:
Hydraulics
The pressure transducer is used to monitor fluid pressure in brake lines actuators
Water Level Measurement
The pressure transducer is used to measure liquid level in tanks and reservoirs
Compressed Air
Many factories use compressed air throughout the site and a pressure transducer may be fitted at several locations to ensure that system pressure is maintained.
Oil Production
Here many types of pressure transducer are used to monitor wellhead pressure and system pressure throughout the production process.
Water treatment Works
Pumping units are often fitted with a pressure transducer to monitor pump performance.
Typical Specifications
A standard industrial type pressure transducer will normally be of stainless steel construction with either ceramic or stainless steel diaphragm. The most common pressure transducer connection is ¼" BSP male thread, although ½" BSP and NPT threads are also popular. Typical pressure transducer outputs are 0-5v DC, 0-10v DC, 0-100 mV DC, and 4-20mA. A pressure transducer with a 4-20mA output is sometimes referred to as a pressure transmitter. Accuracy will vary from 1-2% of full scale for a low cost pressure transducer for use in non critical applications to as high as 0.05% where accuracy is paramount.
Pressure Transducer Selection
When selecting a pressure transducer for a given application the following criteria should be considered:
Operating pressure range
Burst pressure
Operating temperature
Output type required
Accuracy required
Mechanical fitting required
The latest developments in pressure transducer technology offer increased accuracy, smaller size and serial outputs for automotive applications. With the ever increasing demand for pressure measurement in industry, research and manufacturing, the market for all types of pressure transducer are set to increase for many years to come.

Branding is all the fad nowadays. So where did it all start? A long, long time ago, when cowboys were more numerous in quantity, and cow rearing is more popular than today, there was a problem. You see, when the cows were out grazing the grass in the open, they often got mixed up with cows from another farm or company. This issue caused quite an argument at times when the cowboys were trying to lead the right cows home. So the owners decided to 'brand' the cow with hot irons that have the symbols of the respective companies. In short, branding is a form of identification, and it can have different kinds of association, negative or positive. This is needed credibility for you to sell more e-books or information products.
Lots of companies spend billions a year on ad and marketing campaigns to strengthen their products' brand ownership. E.g. if a company selling corn flakes wants to emphasize on the natural, organic factor, then all its advertisements will show repeatedly how natural and organic the product is. A company can also use advertising to change perception of its existing brands, e.g. from its existing 'oldness' to something more 'hip and vibrant' to connect with the young. And branding is very relevant on the online world as well.
Why spend much effort on improving the branding of your product? Branding can help to make your product stand out among the rest of the products, especially in fiercely competitive categories like slimming, internet marketing and network marketing. E.g. coffee is a commodity, but Starbucks is able to re-brand coffee to something luxurious and aspirational. Below lists 3 ways for you to brand your online e-book or information product.
#1:
One important component of branding is to create a logo. Put this logo wherever your product appears on the web, so that consumers can associate the logo with your product. The association has to be a positive one, such as this logo is always associated with good quality, value for money products in the niche of 'car repair'. Look at McDonald's and its golden arch, which is recognizable in every corner of planet earth. It is associated with consistency of product quality, convenience, burgers, fast food, and Americanism. Another good example is Apple, with its Apple logo, that denotes creativity and easy to use products.
You can use your picture as a logo as well, so that your face can be recognized as a symbol of quality, or an expert in a particular niche, such as the guru in 'car repair' technology.
#2:
Use a slogan next to your product feature or advertisement. E.g. Nike has 'Just Do It', which denotes the aspiration of many to engage more in exercises and running. Avis car rental service has a slogan 'We are #2, therefore we try harder', to denote their hard working, ever improving spirit in service. What is your slogan?
#3:
The third easiest way is to put a buzzword or your name next to your products' names as a form of identification, and potential for long term mental associations. E.g. Michael Bay's Instant Blog Generator Software, and Michael Bay's 5 minute Article Writer Software to associate Michael Bay's name with speed.
Yes, the big multi-national companies spend billions in advertisements such as that seen in Super Bowls.
For small start ups on the internet, the above 3 methods will get you started on branding without burning a hole in your pocket. The whole internet marketing game takes time to master, so learn from those who have been there to shorten your learning time, and avoid painful mistakes.
