You can use your insulated patio door drapes in the fall and winter and take them down during the spring and summer.

By alternating your curtains, you can extend their life. If you have the same curtains up year round, they can become faded and also rip easily. The appearance of the room can be quickly changed just by changing the drapes. It is possible for them to be made to look like regular unlined curtains. If you put insulated curtains on the glass doors to your patio, they will not just stop icy air from entering. They will also provide a degree of privacy not unlike what you get with a set of blinds. Close them and the lining won't allow neighbors and other people outside to look in. They will lessen the amount and intensity of sunshine as well. Although they can't keep the light out quite as well as blinds do, you will be able to nap or sleep more easily because of the amount of darkness they offer.

Putting lined drapes on the doors to your patio looks good, and serves a function, too. On cold mornings, when there is ice on the doors, you can see why insulation is important. These drapes are suspended from a rod or hooks, and are big enough to cover the whole zone. There are so many types and options available, so you can definitely find one that you like. Make sure you pick a thick kind, so it can serve as an insulator, too.

You will get insulated drapes in all kinds of stores. Try your local stores for cheap curtains and drapes. Retail outlets are an easy place to find some of these. Specialized furnishing stores usually have a giant selection for you to choose from. You should always take measurement of the area you need to cover before you go to a store and realize you have no idea what size you need. Not all patio doors are the same and so it is not possible to find a one size fits all when it comes to drapes.
