One of the most important things to know when playing Texas hold em poker is that you have to play tight. If you have a table full of players and everyone plays loose then how will you end up with a winner? On the other hand if everyone plays tight then you again, can't have any winners.



It may appear that you are winning but really you are just losing less than your opponents. The house will also be victorious. This is a result of each player playing the same style.

Always have your own style. Don't be predictable! And make sure that no one knows your next move.

The strategy is like this, in order to win; you watch for a few and see what kind of game is rolling. If it is a tight game then play loose. If it is a loose game then by all means play tight.

It truly is the only way to win! So check it out, in a tight game you don't have the edge. In a loose game you will get the edge if you play tight.

You have to remember this because people that play this game usually know what they are doing. Players have a tendency to come and go a lot in this game. A lot of people fold right away.

The result of this is smaller pots so the game might get tighter as you play. If your game gets too tight, maybe it is time to pack it up for the night. For obvious reasons it would be a great game if you were the only tight playing player at the table in a loose game but odds are that isn't going to occur.

The chances of that are slim to none. Often loose players will start to play tight but generally it is short lived. This is a game that has to be watched very closely and then you will eventually develop a skill for it.

Watch the players! See which ones stay in on a shot in the dark and which ones fold more than anything else. Common sense says that the ones that stay on anything are purely winging it and when the folders stay in.

Observe all of the players. Take notice of the ones that seem to stay in on nothing and the ones that fold right away. You will then have more certainty who the ones are that stay in on anything and who stay on nothing.
