Samsung mobile phones brings into mind a stylish and slim slider with a good set of functions. Over the years, the company have been successfully creating bestsellers, thereby guiding their steady growth. Samsung's Ultra Edition had been a great boost to their portfolio, driving the popularity of Samsung mobile phones even further. Second wave of 'ultra' mobile phones, collectively known as Ultra Edition II has already hit the market, generating a lot of curiosity among mobile phone users. Among this formidable lineup, one of the top model is the Samsung U700.

The Samsung U700 is also known as the Ultra Edition 12.1 – taking cue from its thickness of mere 12.1 mm. This does not compare well with the best in the Ultra Edition II line up – Samsung U100, which measures a miserly 5.9 mm in thickness, thus claiming the title of world's slimmest handset. However one has to consider the handset's slider form and the fact that the Samsung U700 is a 3.5G mobile phone with HSDPA technology embedded within its stylish casing. This stunner is available in choices of Blue-Violet, Silver-White and Gold-Chocolate combination to suit your personality.

The Samsung U700 can take part in video calls apart from regular voice calls across three GSM mobile network bands. Embedded HSDPA technology is capable of achieving downloading speed of up to 3.6 Mbps under optimum condition. Large packets of data transfer for functions like video calling and multimedia game playing, thus becomes effortless with the Samsung U700. In absence of 3G network, enjoy mobile internet through its GPRS and EDGE technology. The handset features NetFront 3.4 web browser for a more comprehensive web browsing experience compared to other typical mobile web browser. The handset's exhaustive feature list includes a massive 3.2 megapixel camera module which cements the Samsung U700's position as one of the top most camera phone.

The sleek Samsung U700 is a tri-band GSM slider camera phone phone. It features a touch-sensitive interface. The device is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and 4x digital zoom. Its sliding mechanism works remarkably well. To slide open the device, one just needs to push it halfway, the rest is taken care of by a spring mechanism.

The device's front fascia is made up of a glossy mirror-like material which elegantly encloses its navigation key. The most attractive part of the Samsung U700 is its round navigation key which is located just beneath the display. There is both an aesthetic and practical reason behind the choice of its shape. The navigation key can be scrolled in four directions with notable ease. Its central part is used for confirming a selected option. When pressed, it gently sinks beneath the ring level.

The device weighs 86 gm and measures 102.5 x 12.1 x 50 mm. It has a 2.2 inch, 262 K colours TFT-LCD monitor that has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixel. It has 40 MB of installed memory that can be expanded further by using a micorSD memory card. It makes use of a rechargeable Li-Ion battery that has a talktime of upto 5 hours and a standby time of upto 270 hours.

A surprise lies in stock for the unsuspecting user of the Samsung U700. There are two red and green receivers on the sides of the navigation key. Samsung has hidden not less than four keys under their hoods. These are marked by pictograms of video calls and application switches. There are also two context keys that appear illuminated in white as soon as the keypad is unlocked. It may take you a bit longer to get used to its touch-sensitive interface. Successful 'presses' of the keys are acknowledged by a twinkle of the backlight of the respective key. The touch-sensitive keys react to the touch of fingers as skin is a good conductor of electricity. The keypad is locked automatically during a call so that the device does not hang up by an unintentional touch of the user's cheek, fingers or ear.

The Samsung U700 is available at attractive bargain price across the retailers in the UK. The retailers are also offering special discount on the device during the Christmas season. Give a Samsung U700 as Christmas gift to someone you really love.
