1. You must sell a product that has an ongoing demand. This is extremely important because without a product that people will continue to need your residual income will fall apart.

You see this happening in many MLM residual income programs. For some reason many MLM's are built around nutritional supplements and there is much higher drop out rate attached to those.

People tend to stop using the product once they are not making money selling it. Therefore this is a bad product to represent because there is not an ongoing demand.

2. The compensation plan must include a way for you to make adequate money up front. Many residual income programs do not offer enough cash flow initially and people tend to get frustrated and quit. If you are selling a product that allows you to make money right now, as well as in the future, you will be more likely to stick with it.

3. The compensation plan should also include a realistic way to create a residual income. Many programs are hyped and offer compensation plans that pay more money too far in depth. The problem with this is most people will never develop a large enough group to develop the depth to begin with. Therefore they never earn a large residual income.

4. The residual income program must give you marketing materials to help you succeed. The average person does not know how to create a banner, for example, therefore it is difficult for them to promote their opportunity online. By giving you quality marketing materials they are helping you guarantee your success.

5. Every good opportunity offers training on an ongoing basis. Today this should include conference calls, webinars, and ways to help you maintain your excitement. These should also be archived so you have the chance to go back and received training in the future, if for some reason you mess a live call.

In summary these are five things your residual income program should contain if you expect to continue to make money on an ongoing basis. If you leave one of these five things out the chances are your residual income will eventually dry up and not continue to pay you for the work that you have previously done.
