Ventrilo is a voice over IP software application, which is priority software. It is available for both Windows and Mac OS platforms. This uses a headset and microphone and is similar in design to a conference call program. It allows you to connect with several individuals at the same time using your computer's internet connection. It makes a perfect companion for any gaming community can take it from simple game play into a social activity by allowing players to talk to each other at the same time they are playing and interacting in the game.

Using a Ventrilo server does require a high speed connection for the best quality sound though standard quality is similar to that of a phone call, lower quality options for dial up connections as well as higher quality codec options are available. Ventrilo does come in a freeware version, which limits the service to a total of eight users at a time.

What this means for your gaming community is that players are able to engage in conversation while they are playing at the same time their hands are free to remain engaged in the controls of the game. This not only allows for faster game play but also allows more social interaction because players do not have to pause the game to talk to each other or even discuss strategies.

This can help to create the opportunity for friends to be made and of course increases the speed at which things happen within the gaming community. This is the main reason why Ventrilo servers can provide you with exactly what you need to give your gaming community a boost to the next level and turn it not just into a gaming community but into a social network filled with people of like interests that can interact in a way that promotes teamwork and productivity.

Having a gaming community is about more than just the game or games if your community promotes more than one. It is about bringing together like minded individuals in a way that provides them with a way to enjoy not only the games they love but to interact on a social level that is beyond the email and instant message stage.

It brings a whole new level to gaming and the gaming communities. A Ventrilo server is just what every gaming community needs. The freeware version allows eight simultaneous connections at any time with a pro version that is available to handle larger loads. It gives excellent sound quality with low bandwidth usage and for those with broadband connections there is the option of obtaining a codec to increase sound quality. Dial up connections can also use the Ventrilo servers but will have lower sound quality available. "
