If you need your site listed in search results, you need your site being indexed by search engines. Therefore, timely and thorough indexing of your site is a key condition to success of your online business.
Site Indexing can be done in two general ways. First: submission of your site to search engines directly. Second, getting a robot of search engine to crawl over your pages and indexing them. It can find your site using links from other pages. Thus, although straightforward submission seem like a good idea, your site may get better weight in the engine rating, if it will be visited from a link of another site. Clearly, if someone links to your site, therefore, it is useful.
The terms of site indexing vary from couple days to a month(s). It is a proven fact that having several links from sites with high PR substantially accelerate indexing. The fastest indexer on the web today is Google.
Indexing of newly added pages happens faster, if the site having a frequent updates. In such case engines may consider such fast growing/updating sites up-to-date and useful for users, and hence, assign them some priority on indexing.
Here are several factors, which should be taken into account for faster indexing:
- The distance between your main page and any other page of your site shall not exceed three clicks;
- Build a map of your site, link your front page to that map;
- Try not to make pages larger than 200 kB: crawlers rarely go deeper than that size.
- It is better to avoid parametrically complicated URLs in your links, such links slow down indexing. Use links which can be easily read by humans.
- Indexing instructions can be made with the aid of robots.txt file, use it.
The progress in indexing of your web site can be checked in logs of your site host or by direct inquiry to search engines. Dont be surprised by fluctuations in number of indexed pages in your site: this can happen for several reasons: server or referrers could be down, or, perhaps, search engine changed its algorithm.
Have a great indexing!
Weather On Web Site
I remember the first time I tried this! I gave up and went downstairs for a beer. But I persevered. And then, all of a sudden, I had it!
And now I can make it easy for you. What's the first thing to understand? It is easy!
It began the day I decided to put up an offer I had put together, drive some traffic to it, and see if it would sell.
Perhaps I'd even sell something on the web. Sounds good, right?
One thing is for sure, you can't make any money unless you have a way to collect it! And that's Paypal.
I had an account there already, for personal reasons, but, I wanted go commercial so I had to jump through some additional hoops.
After that was over, I made my way to the main page of my account and started looking around. I found a pull down menu called "Profile". It didn't seem natural to me that paypal buttons would be under "profile", but they are, and now you know.
So I clicked on profile and it took me to a page called "profile summary". It's a busy page which had three columns of categories. Just look on the right hand side at the column called "Selling Preferences".
Go down about five lines and there it is. You select "My saved Buttons", even if you don't have any saved buttons!
That jumps you to another page! If you look over to the right, there it is, in very small print. It's a link to "Create new button". Click it.
Now you jump to another page!
Look at Step One. I was selling a product so I left the first choice at "product".
Move down one.
The second choice is a simple yes or no. I clicked "no" because that decides to give you a "buy now" button.
Here, you have to name your product. Make it simple and clear. Type it in. You can skip "item ID".
Next is the price! Be sure to get that right. Then you want to select "Secure Merchant ID". That way people can't view the source at your website, which would allow them to get your email for spam purposes!
Now you are done with creating the button, but there's more. A lot more.
With downloadable products it is typical to send your customer to a download page when they finish purchasing.
This means you better have a download page and know it's URL (address). Making a download page is a whole different article. It's been suggested that you learn a little HTML editing. I'll bet you heard it a million times. No sweat, in HTML the basics are easy.
Next is a simple but critical step. You move down, past Step Two (it doesn't apply to you) and open Step 3.
I do it this way.
1st choice - No.
2nd choice - No.
3rd choice - No.
4th choice - No.
Go right past the next choice and you will be at the one we are interested in. You put the address (URL) of your download page right there. Put it in! Move down and save.
Right after saving you will be shuttled to your button's code. Copy it.
Now go to the sales page on which you want the button. What I do is find the place I want the button to be on the page and I type in "paypal button".
Now...switch to the source code of that page and find the very words you typed in and select them, and only them. Now hit paste. Remember back when you copied your button's code? This is where it goes.
Switch back to normal and...there it is! Your paypal button, right where you want it, and it works! I like to type the words "only $7" right above the button. Be sure to hit save.
Click that button to check it! It should whisk you right to your very first paypal payment page. You're in business!
Finally, you should go through the entire process as if you were a customer. Be certain that your customer will go to the download page and that all is good. If it is, fine. If it isn't, fix it. It might just be a missing letter. Work slowly.
Don't worry, any money you pay into your own paypal account is still yours, minus a small fee.
Now then, drive some traffic to that page, but drive the right kind of traffic. Send the type of traffic that's looking for what you have!
