There are a number of whole house water filters on the market today. Some are, of course, more effective than others. It's relatively easy to compare products on-line, since most companies have a website. They may seem pretty expensive at first, but when I added up how much I was spending on just replacement cartridges for the many units around my home, I decided that it was actually more cost effective, in the long run, to have a whole house water filter.

As an added bonus, whole house water filters protect the pipes in my home from corrosion. Because all of the sediments are removed, there will be less deterioration. My fixtures even stay cleaner. The whole house water filter also guarantees that the ice is clean. We can safely drink from the chilled water-dispenser on the fridge and the taste has been greatly improved.

Our whole house water filter doesn't require electricity nor back flushing but each different unit in the marketplace has its own specifications. Every quarter or so the pre-filters must be changed out. However, the master filtration unit is good for about three years. That was where the biggest cost saving came in.

Before we got a whole house water filter we were replacing cartridges on the kitchen tap, the bathroom faucet and on the showerheads every three or four months. So, over the course of three years, we will save over a thousand dollars. However, of greater importance than the dollars we saved were the benefits to our health and well-being.

Many things go unnoticed. You realize you have less energy than usual or feel headachy all the time. You forget about the quality of the air in your home. You see, whole house water filters do more than just filter water.

They create a better indoor atmosphere, because there are no chlorine vapor and no chloroform gas anywhere inside. We realized that the vapors formed in the bathroom during a shower, but didn't think about the laundry room or the dishwasher. The whole house water filter even made the laundry smell better.

The cost of use per day works out to about fifty cents. That's less than a single bottled beverage. We got free glass containers when we ordered, so we can keep them chilled in the refrigerator and carry them with us when we go out. I like adding a little slice of orange or lime to give it a dash of flavor.

The company that we chose automatically ships the pre-filter replacements on a regular basis. So, I never have to worry about ordering them. That's just one more added convenience. We completely made the correct decision. Maybe whole house water filters are the right choice for your family, too.
