(a) Get your domain name plastered on other web sites and

(b) Get people to visit your site (more hits).

Many people use article submissions to attempt to achieve both aims. A decent article submission program like ArticlePostRobot can cost over $150 and some services require manual submission (you the user has to take over the initial registration). Other newbie web owners spend ADWORDS to attract visitors, writing an attractive phrase and then paying for each click. The hope is that some of those clicks will turn into fans who will return.

If you like the article submission route to higher page rank, you should continue it. But why not supplement your efforts at the grassroots? I have been using an inexpensive program (under $109?) that uses MySpace. Here's how it works.

1. I got a MySpace identity.

2. Myspace then invites me to send invitations to up to 50 people, saying, "I just joined. I'd like to make friends with some people."

3. When some of those people reply, I have an opportunity to say something about myself. I don't want to sound like "I'm here to market my products." The idea is to make the Myspace user think that I'm a good person.

4. The message to the other person might say, "Hi, I really like travel and I'm writing articles for a web site called www.FreeEnglishLessons.com -- in fact, I bet you could tell others about your city. Well, bye!"

5. Short messages sometimes turns into a web visit to Travellovers.com -- and how much did it cost to get that hit? Just my time typing on the Internet.

Can this become more efficient? Sure. The database for Myspace is divided by country...so I can target a specific group of people with a message like, "I want to visit Chile. What is good there?" I can sort and select 50 people a day from Chile to send my emails. But how about this? What if there could be a robot that does the initial contact? Can you imagine? My friend's program goes to 50 accounts a day and says, "I just joined. I'd like to make friends with some people."

Over a month, 1500 people are contacted and I get 200 or 300 extra people writing to me. Many of those people turn into hits on my website.

As a 50-year-old person, I never would have thought of using Myspace for marketing. My friend's program has made my marketing campaign youth-oriented and hip. I recommend this route for anyone who is looking for a MySpace boost!

BuddyPromoter.com is the website for the program. You can go to that web site toread more about it. If you do a search in Google for "Friend Adder," you will see there is a ad for BuddyPromoter.com on the search results page. The ad usually appears on the top or on the right side of the page.
