Bed In A Bag

    View:
Bed in a Bag sets are an inexpensive way to quickly add your own, or a family member’s, sense of personal style to a bedroom. However, you might not be familiar with the components of a bed in a bag set. So here we’ve provided you not only a listing of the various bed in a bag components – Comforter , Pillow Sham, Bed Skirt, Throw Pillow, Pillow Case and Sheet, but also a brief description of each.

Bed in a Bag Components

The Comforter

A comforter is a blanket that’s rectangular and generally used for warmth. Comforters can be filled with various material, including polyester, wool, or down. Often, the choice of material is based on allergic considerations as many people suffer feather allergies. Its outer covering, which surrounds the filling, is traditionally of cotton, silk or polyester. Thread counts vary but higher thread counts generally cost more. (Note that despite semantics, comforter bed in bag sets and bed in bag sets are the same thing – they both contain comforters).

The Pillow Sham

A pillow sham is simply a cover that goes over the pillow. It can range from extremely intricate and fancy, including tassels and lace, to a dark, solid color. Keep in mind that the latter doesn’t necessarily go with cheap bed in bags as the design can be as much a matter of taste as money. A pillow sham can also come in varied materials, including silk, satin or cotton. But you must know that a pillow sham is all form – you don’t sleep with it. Rather, it’s used to make your bedding look more vibrant.

The Bed skirt

The bed skirt’s role is to hide the box spring, both giving a complete look to the bed as well covering up any items that might be hidden under the bed. It is traditionally made out of cotton and extends from under the mattress to the floor. While the bed skirt is often a plain solid color, it can have an intricate design. Because the bed skirt often matches, in color, the comforter, bed in bag sets bring a sense of continuity to your bedding.

The Throw Pillow

You would use the throw pillow for show only. Unlike the sleeping pillow, the throw pillow is comprised of intricate patterns and colors that bring personality and style to the room as well as accent your bedroom colors. Appearances vary from throw pillow to throw pillow as they come in various shapes and sizes. Note that not all bed in a bag sets come with throw pillows. They generally accompany the higher end, or more expensive, sets. The cheap bed in bags, however, can also add to the overall appearance of your bedroom.

The Pillow Case and Sheet

The sheet and pillow case are used to keep the pillow and mattress clean. They come in various thread counts and styles, from solid to print and even plaid. Generally speaking, the pillow cases and sheets are closely coordinated in appearance. The sheets are either fitted, meaning they hold closely to the mattress with elastic material sewn into the sheet, or loose, meaning that the ends of the sheet are tucked under the mattress.

One of the benefits of a bed in a bag is that all these materials come together in…you guessed it...one bag – from pillow cases to comforter. Bed in a bag sets save you the time it would take to shop for each item individually. Prices range from $100 for the cheap bed in bags to more than $200.
Bed In A Bag
A bed in a bag comes with a comforter. People use comforters to keep toasty on cold nights. Further, comforters come in various designs to facilitate bedding coordination and are thus used to impart style to the bedroom. Given the importance of the comforter to both form and function, it will play a major role in terms of the bed in a bag you purchase.

Time to Meet the Comforter

You can find a comforter that matches your bed size, whether it’s a twin, queen or king. However, keep in mind that the comforter is actually larger than the bed to allow for it to neatly drop over the side. In addition, the comforter comes in the shape of a rectangle. It contains synthetic or natural stuffing..

Goose

A lot of people like goose down comforters. To begin with, goose doesn’t smell, which can be a real benefit given how much you’ll interact with your comforter. However, some animal rights activists don’t like goose in that it comes from…a goose. Further, many are allergic to goose feathers. In addition, many have allergies to feathers, including those from goose. But putting these reasons aside, goose is great in that it’s both light weight and warm. Keep in mind that if the label doesn’t say goose, your comforter is probably from duck, which is cheaper and less soft.

Thought of Cotton?

An alternative to goose is cotton. Cotton has a heavy feeling. The weight makes some people feel secure at night. Cotton also lets air flow through it nicely and is soft. However, it’s not as warm as down.

About Thread Count

The thread count is simply the amount of threads, per inch, in the comforter’s shell. The higher the thread count, the softer the material and the more expensive it will be. If you are willing to pay a little more, look for thread counts over 250.

Style Matters

You can get your comforter in a variety of styles. Designs range from floral and other patterns to solid. Keep in mind that if you get a bed in a bag, your comforter will automatically match the bedding. Also, consider a reversible comforter so that you can quickly change styles by flipping it. To conclude, if you want your comforter to look fresh, wash it every three weeks.

Comforters will affect the look of your entire bedroom. So when you buy a bed in a bag, make sure the comforter meets your qualifications and you’ll be on your way to creating the bedroom of your dreams.
