Body Armor Motorcycle Jacket

    View:
During the World War II the US made many designs of Body Armor for use bits army but all of these were found to be too heavy and restricted mobility of the soldiers. Most of these new designs were also not liked and put to use as they were found to be incompatible with most of the existing equipment in use by the army men. Together with the Americans the Japanese army was also conducting its own research on Body Armor. The Russian Red Army had an array of Body Armor ready numbered as SN-38, SN 39, SN 40, SN 40A and the SN 42A where the number denoted the year of designing. All these Body Armor were combat ready but only SN42 was put in actual production. These armors were made of two steel plates presses together to protect the groin and the torso. These used steel plates of 2mm thickness and weighed a mere 3.5 kgs. The Body Armor SN-42 was quite impressive due to its low weight and was used by the Russian tank brigades.

The Korean War and then the Vietnam War so the Unites States develop Body Armor made of nylon with fiberglass and steel reinforcements. 1968 saw the invention of a quilted nylon faced vest reinforced with multiple steel plates. The US law enforcement agencies were impressed with its capabilities and were widely used by the police in some high threat and dangerous operations.

The mid 1070s saw the birth of the modern Body Armor. DuPont Corporation of the Unites States invented and introduced the a synthetic fiber named as Kevlar which was very tightly woven into fabric and then using layers of this fabric the new high quality, light weight Body Armor was produced. This was a lightweight Body Armor and was immediately accepted by the US security forces and the development of Kevlar based Body Armor has been going on since then to make it more effective.
Body Armor Motorcycle Jacket
Body Armor is a protective covering worn over the torso usually in the form of a vest. Body Armor is also commonly known as ballistic vest or bullet proof vest and it protects the user from the impact of any type of gun fire or explosive projectiles and fragments. The Body Armor are normally available in two kinds; the soft type and the hard type. Soft Body Armor are made out of layers of very tightly woven special fibers which are capable of protecting the user from bullets fired by using a shotgun or a handgun. These vests also protect the wearer from shrapnel from hand grenades and are usually worn by the police force and private guards. The hard type Body Armor uses ceramic plates or metal plates to reinforce a soft vest which gives it the ability to protect the wearer from high impact rifle shots as well. The hard type Body Armor is somewhat heavier and us normally used by combat soldiers on an army in many countries and by armed rapid action police forces in some countries while dealing with insurgency.

The Body Armor is usually called bullet proof vest but the term ‘bullet proof’ is a much misused terms and a misnomer. The Body Armor in its soft avatar which is ineffective in providing any protection against rifle shots or even shots from a pistol grade carbine. This soft Body Armor is capable of protecting a person from rifle shots only if the .22 LR ammunitions have been used. However these are usually protective enough for normal handgun shots fired from a handgun and hence the name ‘bullet proof’.

The actual so called bullet proof Body Armor are the hard type and usually reinforce the soft vests with steel or titanium or polyethylene or ceramic plates which provide the extra protection usually required for vital organs. These hard types Body Armor are capable of protecting the wearer against all type of handgun bullets and most of the rifle fire power.
