Communication In A Relationship

    View:
One of the most important aspects of a successful relationship is effective communication between both parties. Lack of communication in a relationship can result in hasty decisions that can even lead to separation. We need to understand the reasons behind communication breakdown and how they can be avoided to ensure a fulfilling relationship.

Sometimes stress of work makes a person withdrawn, reserved and easily irritated. They dont like to discuss anything with their partners. Financial problems can also be the cause of communication breakdown between two people. When they try to resolve issues, their arguments result in more problems and eventually they stop discussing things. Many couples start hiding their personal problems from each other. They are afraid that if they opened up they will irritate their partner even more and therefore they choose to keep quiet. Remember that lack of communication is the first step towards a failed marriage.

Sometimes mistrust and doubts about your partners loyalty result in communication breakdown. You silently start observing their actions and dont make any effort of discussing your doubts with them. Sometimes when some third party gets involved in two peoples personal matters they make it a point to open up only in front of that third person instead of discussing things between themselves. Always try to resolve your problems yourself.

When you dont live together for a long time it also results in lack of communication and eventually total breakdown. If your partner has to live somewhere else, make sure you two talk on a regular basis and never let distance come in the way of your love. Its true that these kinds of relationships are hard to manage but once you have a made a decision you have to stick with it no matter what happens or how physically distant you are.

Birth of the first baby is also sometimes a cause of communication lapse between the partners. The mother has to give more and ore time to the baby and the father has to spend more and more time in the office. As a result they get a chance to talk after a long pause and when that happens there are complaints and disagreements over trivial issues. Sometimes they argue over what the baby needs and how it should be handled and cared for. When things get out of control they stop their communication altogether and become withdrawn.

Reasons behind lack of communication vary from couple to couple, but the important thing is you shouldnt let these problems come in the way of your relationship. Always talk things out between yourselves before they get worse and never let lack of communication lead to misunderstandings and distrust in any relationship.
Communication In A Relationship
How does email communication in a relationship help foster better bonding? Well, basically emailing is the newest trend in communication nowadays. Almost everyone knows how to email now even elderly people have taken the time to master the process of emailing. Emailing has the potential to change lives.

How can emailing improve your communication in a relationship?

1)For partners who are far apart, emailing is one way for them to stay in touch constantly. Some people may opt to email on a daily basis; others like to stay in touch more frequently (i.e. hourly or twice a day.)

2)For business contacts, emailing may help them keep updated on the progress of their various projects. This is particularly important when one party has outsourced projects to the other party.

3)For groups of people, emailing makes it possible for all members of the group to receive the same email message at the same time. Some common email groups systems are google groups and yahoo groups.

4)Because email systems can save sent mail in their respective servers for their users, it is possible for users to retrieve past communication. This is quite useful in relationships when conflict has cropped up because one party mis-read or misinterpreted his email. Going back over the email in question helps resolve problems immediately.

5)More relationships between acquaintances of acquaintances can be created through the forward function in emailing. For example, when I receive an email that I think would interest another friend of mine, I can easily forward it to him. Then, maybe eventually the person who sent me the email can meet the person who I forwarded the email to. Thus, my network of friends becomes closer.

It is also possible for communication in a relationship to be weak though because of the following factors:

1)Anonymity - this is a common problem because cyberspace permits us to stay hidden behind usernames that may be vague or unique enough to prevent our identity from being disclosed. Some people are turned off by this. In some cases, it can be dangerous to receive email from an anonymous sender because the attachments may contain computer viruses.

2)Asynchronous interaction - some people feel frustrated that emailing does not occur in real time, meaning I may write an email now and send it but the other party may not read it until hours, even days later. If the email contains urgently-needed information, the consequences could be terrible. One recent case of this is the Virginia Tech shootings - the school administration sent an email about the risk of being shot through the school email system but not everyone in the school population was logged into their email at the time. Thus, many more people died than could have been prevented.

3)Existence of spam - unwanted messages such as spam make the prospect of receiving email risky. Spam is annoying because many times it may contain nonsense that you must waste time reading, or even contain virus-laden attachments that can destroy your computer. Fortunately, many spam emails are immediately weeded but by anti-spam software.

How prevalent is the practice of emailing now? Users of email can be categorized as the following:

1)Fanatical email users - such people choose to email constantly, with some opting to wait with their email systems open 24 hours so that they can immediately pounce on the latest email to enter their inbox.

2)Regular email users - these people are relatively normal because they only check their email once a day or a few times per week.

3)Sporadic email users - people in this last category are users who rarely use their email systems. Maybe many are just too busy to look into their inboxes. Some could be intimidated by the technology and opt to avoid all contact altogether.

Regardless of which category you fall in, one thing is sure - emailing is a good way to maintain your communication in a relationship or any key relationships.
