1. Furniture. It is important that you make a decision on what kind of furniture your need for your room and then measure the room prior to making any purchases.
2. When buying dressers and chest of drawers for items that will sufficiently hold your clothing, lingerie, jewelry and bedroom linen. You can also use the tops of these for holding a TV or stereo if you have one in your bedroom.
3. If you have enough space consider purchasing an armoire (large upright chest with 2 or 4 doors) if you require tall storage space but not enough room to include a wardrobe in your design. A lot of the armoires now available come with a rod inside on which to hang your clothes as well as pull out tray on which a television, stereo or computer can be stood.
4. When looking for a nightstand select one that you can easily reach from your bed and has at least one draw in it to hold any belongings that you do no want continually on show.
5. Also consider purchasing a mirror as this will create the illusion of space in your room. However if you are purchasing one that will be stood on your dresser then measure the dresser width so that they match.
6. Buy a duvet or comforter cover for your bed so it feels cozy when you get in at night to sleep and select matching sheets and pillowcases to add that final finishing touch.
7. If you want to really add a nice finish touch to your master bedroom and great a little feel of luxury then include some decorative pillows as well.
8. The lighting in your master bedroom should be warm and inviting, however it should be bright enough so that you can read but soft enough that you feel comfortable and relaxed in your room.
9. Finally why not paint the walls to give them a fresh new look and why not go for colours that will match in with the overall design of your room. However, do not go for harsh colours as they will only make the room feel cold and uninviting when you step into.
Hopefully decorating a master bedroom will be much easier for you now by following some of the tips which are provided above.
Decorating A Master Bedroom
quick sweep of the house, and anything we don't know what else to do with ends up there. We close
the door and forget about it. Then we don't know what else to do with the stuff. It stays and the pile
accumulates more things, until eventually you feel as if it has taken over the room.
Start your project by sorting out these homeless items based on where they should really belong, and
once you have them organized in boxes at least get them to their proper rooms. Worry about putting
them away later; at least they're out of the bedroom.
There never seems to be enough closet space in the master bedroom. It is a good idea to check out
the new storage units that help maximize what space you do have. There are even services that help
you to design a closet storage system, but with a little time and research, it can be done on your own.
Sort out your clothes by season first, and decide where to store the out of season clothes. Under the
bed storage boxes work great for them.
As you go through the clothes, decide if there are things that don't fit and decide if you really need to
keep them, or have a garage sale or just donate them. If you have clothes that still fit but haven't
been worn in over a year, really think about whether or not you ever will wear them again. This process
will free up a lot of closet space.
Another trouble spot is the top of dressers. We tend to just leave things for later and find that later
never comes. If you've already gotten rid of the things that don't belong in the bedroom, there
shouldn't be much left there that needs sorting but you will want to develop an organizational system
to keep things neat from here on out.
In order to stay ahead of the clutter that gathers on top of the dresser, decide what needs to be
there, and how to organize it. Baskets work well to hold lotions and incidentals. They also help break
up the flat surfaces that tend to collect other things. Use some simple plastic boxes in your top
drawers to keep track of the little items that often end up rolling around with your socks.
Your bedroom is a haven. You'll find that you get better rest and a brighter start to each day when
