Robustness and durability

When selecting your kitchen cabinets make sure to go for a reputed brand. Just because you can get a discount price at a sale do not go for it. The amount spend will repay itself with the longevity of the cabinet. Make sure that the cabinet isn’t too ornamental or difficult to maintain else, you will be spending all your time cleaning and polishing the cabinets.

Breaking the boredom

Try using different shades of colors in your kitchen design in order to sustain interest and move out the boredom. Having monochrome colors for the walls and bold bright colors for the cabinets is a great idea. For the kitchen walls, try using bright colors like red which are said to enhance appetite. However, if your kitchen does not get natural sunlight then light pastel hues are perfect to lighten up the room.

Don't go clinical

You will surely be having a specific area in your kitchen where you will be doing most of the work. Make sure to have a track light installed just above this place.

Choosing the furniture

There are plenty of options available these days as far as kitchen furniture is concerned. You can choose from slim sleek lines that complement the ambience and colors of your kitchen. If your kitchen is small then make sure to prevent clutter by going for a minimalist design.

Easy slide drawers

Silicone sealant

This is essential to be applied in places where the kitchen walls and worktop edges converge. Using this sealant will prevent fissures from forming which in turn will prevent water leakage. It will also save you a lot on future maintenance costs.

Planning the gas, plumbing and electricity

It is absolutely vital that you plan on all these three things as not doing so can jeopardize your kitchen design. Before installation of these aspects, you need to figure out where to place the gas connection as well as electricity points etc.

Floor levels

Most kitchen floors have a wavy pattern and cabinets are installed on the higher points of the floor. The lower points of the kitchen floor therefore tend to display gaps and inaccuracies later on. Usually, the kitchen cabinets placed on the lower end of the floors will be propped up to ensure the same level across the floor. Distance from the wall sides

The way you place your cabinets on the walls also makes a difference to the overall kitchen design and appearance. If you have kitchen cabinets placed just 2 inches away from the wall side, it will look very bad and cheap. Instead, try placing the cabinets at least 3-4 inches from the wall side.

Space constraints

If space is an issue with your kitchen, you could try modifying the design to built a buffet styled bar for breakfasts. You could even try having an island bench placed where you serve the food.
