When I first read this section in the book, I thought ahhh, boring…but hang on a minute, why would someone so successful think it necessary to put it in ? Simple, if you don't create the right mindset you will always struggle with most things in life. Why do most of the top athletes have their own ‘mind coaches' ?
Again, going back to that powerful opening statement, the words Actions & Disciplines. If you don't take action with anything - Nothing will get done. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Just like one of my mentors said, Discipline is the foundation upon which all success is built. Lack of discipline inevitably leads to failure.
Now I don't want to get too heavy here but we all have our own hopes & dreams or have they taken a back seat whilst ‘life' gets in the way. Think about it, our thoughts are the only thing that we have 100% control over.
So, what does the successful person do & think ?
A successful person does the un-successful person makes a conscious decision not to do. Have you ever found yourself saying:- I'm too busy, too tired, I don't have any money, no time, my partner isn't behind me, I've tried it before and it doesn't work, I cant sell, I don't know enough people, I'm just not good enough! Just read that list again, I'm sure there's a few in there that struck a chord.
So how do I start being successful ? A good start is having a positive mental attitude PMA, you can do that remember with your thoughts, read some good positive books, I would recommend think & grow rich, rich dad poor dad, how to win friends & influence people. Skill with people by Les Giblin. The last one is a twenty minute read, I lose count how many times I've read it…absolutely brilliant.
Remember, you & you only are in 100% control of your thoughts. It's really up to you, you and you only are capable of doing this…..next, an introduction to the MS system.
Something to think about, a few of my favorate quotes bt Jim Rohn:-
The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not a bully; be thoughful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humour, but without folly.
We must learn to help those who deserve it, not just those who need it. Life responds to deserve not need.
Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day; while failure is simply a few errors in judgement, repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgements that leads us to either fortune or failure.
