Floor Plan For Home

    View:
You have come to the decision that you want to renovate your home. Maybe you were planning to sell your home and move to a more updated house, but the slow housing market has put a damper on that idea. Or maybe you have been in your home for twenty years and think that a "facelift" is in order. Whatever the reason for your home renovation, you need to have a plan before you jump into the actual renovation process. The following tips can help you navigate your home renovation project.

1. Be prepared to supervise the renovation work. Even though you will probably have a contractor coordinating the various renovation activities, you will be the head project manager. You will need to know how to communicate and act professionally as well as solve problems that arise. Be honest with yourself and decide if you will be able to handle the inevitable stress that comes with home renovation. You can also ask someone else, such as a relative or trusted friend, to help you oversee your renovation project.

2. Plan how you will adjust to the renovation. Depending on how extensive your home renovation project is, you may need to live somewhere else while the work is being done. This is an option for those that want to renovate several areas of their home or the entire home in as little time as possible. If you plan to renovate one area at a time while you remain in the house, you will need to think ahead to how you will manage this. Make sure you know how you will prevent the dust and other debris from settling into your living areas. To avoid becoming overly frustrated, plan on each individual project taking longer than the estimated time. Kitchen renovations will have the most impact on your daily routines, so spend ample time determining your strategies for living with either no kitchen or a partial kitchen.

3. Decide which projects you want to do yourself and which ones you want to hire out. There are some renovation projects that you can easily do yourself or with the help of family and friends. Sometimes homeowners can be a little too enthusiastic and try to complete renovation projects that are too difficult for them. This is especially true for electrical and plumbing work. If you have any doubt that you can complete a project and be happy with the results, hire a professional to do the job.

4. Make sure you have the necessary permits for any renovation work you plan to do. The rules and regulations regarding building permits vary from state to state, so check for building laws that cover your area. If a contractor is handling the project, he or she will be responsible for obtaining any permits, but you may want to verify that all the paperwork is completed on time. If you are part of a homeowner's association, make sure your home renovation does not violate any of the association's rules.
Floor Plan For Home
Each year, thousands of people died because of fire-related incidents at homes, many of which can be prevented if emergency plans has been in placed earlier. Thus, it is very important for us to be prepared for such emergencies. Each member of our family should know what to do in the event of a fire. More importantly, all of us need to know what to do to prevent a fire.

Planning Ahead - One of the most important things that parents forget to teach their children is to prepare for emergencies, such as fire. Even at a young age, children should already be taught how to prevent fire and what to do in case there is fire. Fire drills have often been conducted in buildings and schools to help prepare building occupants and students in case of fire, so why can't you have a fire drill in your home?

1.The first step is to check your house for possible fire exits. See if the windows and doors in your house are big and tall enough to be used as possible fire exits. Make a floor plan for each room, ensuring that there are at least two ways to get out of the room to escape fire. In making the floor plan, you need to include crucial details, such as stairs, windows and hallways.

2.After devising a floor plan, you should meet your children and discuss your fire escape plan. You should also make sure that your family has devised a way of warning other members of fire, such as bells, door tapping, etc. It would be best if each bedroom of your house has a flash light and a bell. Lastly, select a safe place outside the house where everyone will go after escaping the fire.

Preparing Your Family For Fire Emergencies - It is wise to act out your evacuation plan with the whole family. Teach your children how to stay close to the ground while escaping and is possible, let them memorize the way. Sometimes, the smoke caused by fire would make it very difficult to see the way, so it would really be wise if you and children know the way by heart.

1.You and your children should also know that during fire, you should feel the door first before opening it. You should not open the door if it is hot. Instead, find another way you could escape your room or house.

2.If the clothes of your children or any family member catch fire, tell them to fall to the ground and roll. This will help extinguish the fire.

Make Your Home Safe From Fire - Make sure that emergency numbers are placed near telephones. Such numbers should always be accessible and visible so that you can call authorities immediately when a fire breaks out.

1.You should also ensure that smoke detectors are installed in key places in your house. Once smoke detectors are installed, you should check their batteries once in a while. Usually, the batteries of smoke detectors should be changed yearly.

2.Place fire extinguishers in key locations. If your house has several floors, ensure that there is at least one fire extinguisher per floor.

3.It would really be best if smoking is prohibited inside the house because many incidences of fire are caused by improperly discarded cigarettes. However, if smoking cannot be helped, make sure that nobody smokes in the bed. Furthermore, let everyone know how to properly discard cigarette butts.

4.No matter how many times you have taught your children that matches and lighters are dangerous, some will still play with them. Thus, it is advisable to keep all lighters and matches in places that your children cannot access. If possible, put them in locked drawers or cabinets
