Around the time of the second Saturn Return (between the ages of 58 and 60) is a great time to get yourself and your life back in balance to be poised right for the big surge forward that is coming. It's time to readjust your proprioception. Yes, that's a fancy word for balance. You're going to need it for the next great stage of your life.



If you're thinking your life is going nowhere, trying to make your life around your kids, staring at the television and waiting for your next meal, think again. The time after the second Saturn Return is often the best time in life. It's your second chance to get it right this time.

So what is proprioception? It's about balance, about staying centered. On the physical plane, it means your natural sense of where you are in space and the relation of one body part to another. It's our way of knowing where we're going to step when we're walking or running. It pays to pay attention to this! If you lose your balance, you might fall, but more commonly you just set your foot or hand in the wrong place and end up with a sprained muscle or ache and pain that you didn't need to have.

Especially when you're on rough terrain, this is important. I learned a lot on my recent trip to Copper Canyon in Mexican. Andy was my teacher. I took a trail ride, and Andy was my horse. He'd been on the trail team a long time. He's an expert at that terrain, which is up and down, and one rock after another. There were parts of the trail that were only rocks piled up, not just pebbles but rocks, with no plain grassy earth for long stretches. And Andy had to place four feet, while we only have to place 2.

Well Andy just wouldn't be rushed and he kept his focus on the ground right in front of him. He often seemed to pause and consider what would be the best course of action. He also refused to follow the path of the lead horse if it didn't feel safe to him. He would either stand still, await my direction, or take a safer path of his own choosing to the same destination. Often we worked together on this one. Andy chose his own path, and chose it carefully, staying centered on this tricky terrain.

Now the time approaching your Saturn Return is a very important one. They signal huge transformational times. It's really the beginning of the Next Stage of your life, and can be the best time of your life if you keep your balance and step carefully. It's a time to take stock of things and look the terrain over and keep your footing. A reading of course can help you with this. That's true at any time.

One of the exercises recommended for increasing your physical proprioception is to stand with your arms spread, then close your eyes and try not to sway. Work up your ability to do this until you can do it for one minute.
