So little girls might have heard it before from their mothers, that back in their days that in order to get a man, women used to play hard to get. This is why growing up millions and millions of angst-ridden teenage girls promised themselves never to do this. After being bombarded by this maxim over and over again.



After all it is during this crazy time of their lives that teenagers believe that they know everything. They are also convinced that the world is secretly plotting against them. This is why they are made to wear braces, and have at least a dozen pimples on their faces.

It is only natural during this time that any adult supervision or guidance is rejected. On the top of the unwanted list are of course, the parents.

But as these little girls grow up and become women, they realize that growing up they might've made a bad decision or two. If they are really honest with themselves, they would admit to at least half a dozen. They also realize that if they only listened, they could have benefited from the wisdom given to them by their parents.

This is why now, they are open to the idea that maybe, just maybe there is some truth to the saying that, " Mothers know best". And one of the things that mothers know best about has to do with dating! Oh the horror!

So how do you actually go about playing hard to get? Here are some tips:

1. For starters, women should not make themselves too easily attainable. They should make men work for their attention. Guys love a challenge. This will also send them the message that you are not one of those women that can be easily be taken!

2. Every girl should have some mystery about her. This intrigues men, and keep them guessing. On the first date, don't try to win their sympathy by relating to them the dramatic story of your childhood, followed by a run down of all the names of bad boyfriends who have scorned you in the past. This will not score you any brownie points. This will only scare men away.

On second thought, if you are having one of those horrific blind dates from hell, by all means, go on ahead and do this. Plus, don't forget to sob in the end. This will be the clincher that will guarantee that there won't be a second date, because chances are, by that time you would have already won the title of: the worst blind date of all time.

3. Those who are serious about playing hard to get should never make the first move. This is crucial! Allow men to think that you are offering them the privilege of your presence! They will treat you like a queen! and rightly so.

Once men find out that a woman is interested in them, their interest tend to wane. Unless of course they are already hooked, lined, and sinker by this time. It is your job to make these men fall head over heels for you!

4. Go on with your life as usual. Don't leave everything behind at the drop of a hat simply because you have a new man in your life.

Women should give themselves some alone time to do you're their own thing. This way, the guy would not think that they are the clingy type, and are extremely dependent. This will also give the guy the illusion that they are in control.

5. Don't let him have his way all the time. If time and time again you get dragged to see a Vin Diesel movie that you don't want to see, you should start a one woman revolt! Do this repeatedly until he finally gives in and agree to make Friday nights, a Keanu Reeves marathon stay at home movie night!

6. Go easy on the phone calls. Women should not call a guy constantly simply to tell him that they want to hear his voice!

7. Flirt a little but not too much. Just enough to let the guy know that he does have a chance with you. What's more if he is really nice, you might consider going out with him.

When playing hard to get it is important for women to remember not to go overboard with their strategy. They should drop little hints here and there that implicitly deliver the message that they are interested in the guy, but will not easily be gotten!
