One probable outcome is the decline in ratings brought about by the fans torment of the somewhat dense plot. Fox’s 24 is up against some stiff competition from CBS and ABC, which just adds gravity to the downbeat dilemma. Perhaps 24 might not even sustain its Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning status.

But before that even happens, the producers of 24, David Furry and Howard Gordon, has pondered on their mistakes as the backbone of the action-packed series and is currently thinking of ways on how to keep the series away from plunging into a pit.

"It's been a very tricky year for us; it's been very difficult… Sometimes we make the right decisions, sometimes we don't. I would still claim that regardless of the quality drop off, what people are saying about it, the show is still very strong and still one of the best things on television," Fury told TVWeek.com.

In deed, 24 has suffered a bunch of depressing comments from avid fans and rating drop offs compared to its previous seasons, most especially its season five, which have garnered several Emmy awards. Nevertheless, the producers of 24 have a lot of big things planned, which will finally put a stop to the rut 24 is currently into.

"As for as next year… We're going to figure out a little bit more, so we don't find ourselves running into [the same problems as season six]. They'll be a little more groundwork done. We're already talking about next season, and we've got a lot of great things planned," added Fury.
