How To Make A Hydrogen Generator

    View:
With gasoline prices in the summer of 2008 hitting over $4 per gallon and now days headed towards that direction again, many people are turning to making a hydrogen generator for their car to save gas. A hydrogen generator will help save gas, reduce tailpipe emissions, cut greenhouse gases, address global warming and it can be profitable as well.

Many years ago inventors were buying a popular ebook online in order to make a hydrogen generator out of a Mason jar and parts that one can buy at a home supply store. In the past couple of years this idea has advanced and many inventors are building more complex hydrogen generators than before.

But, the fundamentals of making a hydrogen generator have not changed. Basically, it involves using the car's battery or alternator, electrolyzing a small amount of water and feeding the resulting hydrogen and oxygen gases into the vehicle's intake system.

The hydrogen gas helps the gasoline combust more quickly and cleanly, creating more power, fewer emissions and increase mileage. This technology has been researched by the U. S. Department of Transportation and NASA as viable. The National Hydrogen Association also endorsed this new, emerging technology.

Sure there are those run your car on water scams on the Internet which are commonplace, but this does not mean the whole hydrogen generator industry is shady. The same can be said of business such as lawyers, real estate brokers and general contractors as well. A few bad apples can give a black eye to an industry, but yet the industry continues to grow and advance in spite of this.

In order to make a hydrogen generator work, inventors also needs to optimize the EFIE or onboard computer as well. This will help lean out the gasoline mixture since more oxygen along with hydrogen is being pumped into the cylinders. Since 1996, cars and trucks have used onboard computers to set the gasoline and oxygen mixture to 14-percent. When this computer senses more oxygen being pumped in it increases the gasoline being pumped into the cylinders to compensate. The EFIE adjusts for this disparity.

In the past year, inventors in record numbers have been building hydrogen generators and selling them online or locally for fun and profit. Those garage mechanics who have a few basic auto skills will find this work challenging, entertaining and profitable as well. Another name for hydrogen generators is HHO boosters because of the hydrogen and oxygen mix going into the cylinders. Many HHO clubs have sprung up both online and in communities nationwide.

Those with an eye for business see the ability to make a hydrogen generator and sell it as an opportunity to make extra money or even go into this as a full-time business. No matter what your interest is in this subject know that this is good for the environment, saves money in your pocketbook at the gas pumps and can gain your money if you decide to create and sell these automotive aftermarket parts as well.
How To Make A Hydrogen Generator
If you are looking to improve your vehicle's fuel economy by turning your car into a water burning hybrid, building a hydrogen generator is not your only challenge. You must also understand how to attach the hho unit to your automobile while avoiding falling victim to the secret "mounting" issues most kits neglect to mention.

See, what many people don't realize is that, often pre-made or pre-assembled hydrogen generators bought from online auctions or made by people worldwide for you, don't always come with installation instructions that consider all the important "mounting" variables involved.

Here is a summary of some important issues you must consider in order to accomplish proper (safe and smart) installation of a hydrogen generator in your car.

1: Keep The HHO Unit Away From Extreme Heat

Hho fuel is safe when kept within the electrolyzer container. However, because you are creating and burning a highly explosive gas, it's best to not place the unit near anything that can become extremely hot. In other words, do not mount it right against the exhaust manifold or radiator and make sure the unit is not touching the engine in any way. A good spot on most newer cars is right between the radiator and front grill. As long as the unit isn't right up against an area emitting extreme heat you should be fine. To be on the safe side, allow one or two inches of clearance in between.

2: Decide How To Mount The Unit And With What Support

Many creators of hydrogen car conversion kits and manuals tell you to use simple bungee chords to strap in your hho fuel cell device. In my experience this is a bad idea as bungee chords don't provide enough stability to keep the hho unit from shifting or coming loose altogether. It's better to use long metal strapping to secure it to the fiberglass bracing in the front wall of your vehicle. Alternatively, many prefer to use long plastic tie wraps as they provide more flexibility than metal straps and are easy to snake through small holes in your car's fiberglass front wall. Use a 2x4 piece of wood to make a base and cut out the unit's exact dimensions in the wood so that the hydrogen fuel cell generator is cradled at the base in it's own exact shape. This way it can't move.

3: Position The Unit So You Can See The Water Level Sight Tubes And Refill When Needed

Most hydrogen generators for cars use clear plastic tubes that stick out the side of them and allow you to judge the current water level. When you choose a spot to mount your hho device make sure you can see these water level tubes without straining too much. Otherwise, you could forget to refill them within the necessary time frame and cause the engine to falter. Also, insure the unit is in an area that allows you easy access to refill with water. Don't make it too hard to get to, in plain sight and easily refillable without it being a chore to do.

4: Position The Unit So You Can Access The Electrical Connections For Occasional Tightening

With constant and frequent use, the electrical connections on a hho generator can loosen up. This occurs rarely and only if the generator overheats. Make sure you can easily reach all the connections on the unit in case you ever have to adjust or tighten them. By making the unit clearly visible and more importantly reachable you can more easily monitor and maintain it resulting in a better working hydrogen generator that saves more gas.

Are you beginning to see why mounting hydrogen generators in vehicles is just as important as building and installing them. Hopefully, these tips have helped you realize how important it is to make these critical "mounting" decisions before you build any do-it-yourself hho fuel cell generators, as you may need to customize the dimensions a little for them to fit and work right within your car's available space. All the more reason why I recommend choosing a complete system that covers all the bases including proper mounting instructions that don't leave out important information that can make or break your success.
