Time is something we can not get back and we can not get enough of it. When it comes to time we never use it to its maximum potential. Most of the time people have absolutely no idea were our day has went.
Memory is honestly inaccurate where
time is concerned, and trying to callback from memory how you spent your day
will a lot of the time lead to misleading results.
This need not be the case. The most
successful people I know routinely Analyze what their day is spent on to make sure they are not wasting any time. The principle can be made habitual to
relieve the annoyance, and if it is done habitually - and the
results acted up on - it will guide you to a remarkable improvement in performance. Because you will be focusing more of your cherished day on the
tasks that matter.
Instead of standing around trying to retrieve the actions of the day, you should record the day as it happens. Taking detailed notes over a long period of time is a must to make this work. Even so, doing that every single day can be a painstaking task. Even so, you should make it a goal to record each day of the week. This can be spread out over several weeks to relieve the burden. For example:
Week one you can write down Monday and Friday, week two Tuesday and Thursday, and week three Wednesday.
It is crucial to record the actions as they happen, and in enough detail that the day can be examined at a different time. Now that you have all of theresults you need to study the data, you need to do just that. There are two ways of analyzing your data.
First you could review the day and put the actions into various categories:
referrals, telephone, meetings, follow ups etc. You will be surprised at how much of your day is lost and not spent to your main job
Next consider What would happen if this job was not done?" If the
answer is not a single thing, then the remedy is clear. If not doing the exact task would have no
good effect on your life, business, relationship, job, spirituality, what ever it is you are trying to manage your day for, then
do not bother to do it. Even so, most of the events will have some value, so you next need to ask: "Could someone else do this better?" With a little studying, you can manage your day and accomplish your goal much easier and much more
