It is not uncommon for homes that are being built today to have at least two bathrooms and depending on the size of the home, maybe even more. A home with four or five bedrooms could easily have three bathrooms. It would seem that the bathroom is one place in a home that we do not really like to share. We value our privacy and the bathroom is the one place where we want it the most in the home.



The more bathrooms there are in the home, the more of them there are to keep clean. It requires frequent cleaning and disinfecting for a bathroom to stay even reasonably germ and bacteria free, of course, this is an almost impossible task because there will usually always be at least some bacteria present because of the continual use of the bathrooms. People are much more careful these days when it comes to trying to keep their homes as clean as they can because we know that viruses are easily transferred from one person to another just by touching surfaces that have been contaminated.

One specific thing that can affect humans and make them ill without having to actually touch it is mold. Mold can also be one of the most common problems for bathrooms. The water used in a bathroom continually creates moisture and when that moisture is allowed to linger, especially when it is combined with humid conditions such as hot showers and baths, the risk of mold development on or near bathroom surfaces is even greater. There must be adequate ventilation in the bathroom to help reduce the risk.

Even when there is an exhaust vent installed in the bathroom, mold can still form and grow if the ventilation provided is inadequate. There are some things you can do to help reduce the chances of mold forming. Cleaning bathroom surfaces frequently with disinfectants designed to kill mold, germs, and bacteria will stop the growth after it has begun. Keeping your bathroom surfaces dry is another good measure. Wiping down sinks, tubs, and shower stalls after use will remove moisture that helps the mold to begin growing. It will usually only take a minute to perform this task after you bath, shower, or use the sink. Replacing moisture laden towels, bathroom rugs or mats frequently is recommended too.

Do not take chances with bathroom cleanliness where the health of your family is concerned. A little disinfecting and keeping surfaces dry as much as possible will be the best measures to take when it comes to keeping your bathrooms as clean and healthy as possible.
