Decorating for a sleeping baby room can be a fun and an exciting activity. Decorating for a newborn can present challenged too. Maybe you are someone who does not want to know what the baby's sex if before his or her arrival. Either way it can be fun.



Making the right choices for an infant's room can be daunting. There is so much out there offered to you from every angle. Even grocery stores carry baby decorator items. Keep in mind the use of the room at all times.

Before you begin always give safety a concerted thought. You may like the old fashioned look and want to fill the room with antique toys. Especially if the child will be allowed to play with them, look into whether the old toys have lead paint or some other "recall" issue. It can be safer for those things the child will touch (and put in their mouths) to be newly bought.

This holds true for baby furniture too. Crib construction for instance has been improved upon in an effort to keep you baby safer. The bars must be a certain distance apart to prevent the child from getting caught in them. Giving the manufacturer a call or looking on the internet is always a good idea.

Walkers, baby swings and other baby items have been deemed unsafe and completely removed from the marketplace. Keeping tabs on what is or isn't safe can be too big a burden. After all, you have a new baby on the way.

Believe it or not there is a super cool piece of furniture for sale at furniture stores for baby's room. It is a bed that converts from an infant crib to a teenager bedstead when the time comes. It has taken a page from transformers and the baby cribs is taken apart and put back together differently. You can't even tell that it was a crib - a bed even a teenager wouldn't snub!

I don't want to give the impression that all items have to be brand new, some can be pre-owned. You can go to garage sales or flea markets and pick up some really good deals on wall art, lamps and picture frames.

All new moms and dads have at their disposal a huge unpaid army of mothers. They are sure to have a lot of experience that they don't mind sharing with you since they, of course, have already been through it ALL. The "mothers" club is always quick to lend a hand as well as advice. Ask your mother or mother in law for help. They would love to help and be a part of the newborn.
