1. Buy unique journals for each family member - I purchased mine from Staples, one for myself and each of my children.
2. Try using a small journal - My journals are about 5x7 in size. I was thinking the smaller pages would not intimidate kids in putting their thoughts into writing.
3. Discuss what each family member wrote - We begin each day with Family Group Time where we read aloud, but that's another entry. We are starting Group Time with each person telling something they wrote in their reading journal the day before. This keeps each of us accountable on a daily basis. This shouldn't take more than 5 minutes a day, unless you land on an interesting topic... make it SHORT & QUICK!
4. Allow each person which book to journal - At this time, I let my kids journal about what we read aloud or their own personal reading. Making them choose helps kids take control or take ownership in their studies. Different books are more interesting to different people, so the journal entries are better if you let them choose.
5. Make it fun & easy - As they begin the reading journal process, I want it to be fun and easy for them. They can simply retell what happened in their book as we begin daily reading journals. As the weeks go by, I will encourage them to record their thoughts about the book. This will develop higher level thinking skills as they analyze or give their opinion about the reading.
When these methods are used with your own students, you'll see that their writings and their attitude improve. If you use reading journals in a homeschool or classroom setting, you can greatly help your students with the reading journal activity.
Learn To Write Well
But now comes the important question is how do you write marketing articles that become effective enough for the reader to visit your website? Well, read on.
Before learning anything else, you must be totally aware of what marketing articles will do for you. These are articles related to your product which you will put up on open directories (free of cost in most cases) and provide a small bio of yourself and a back link to your own website.
Whenever a visitor reads your article, he or she is most likely to visit your website. But that, as you must already have guessed, depends on several factors.
There are many obvious and subtle points here to consider. If you read between the lines in the above paragraph, you will understand that the visitor may read your article but it is not necessary that he or she will also visit your website. In order to achieve that, it is necessary to make your article so impressive that the visitor feels compelled to visit your website.
You must make efforts to write articles like a pro. All kinds of information are available freely on the Internet. Spend some time investigating on the subject. Even if you have the general idea that you know enough about the subject to start preaching, it doesn't hurt to learn a little bit more. You might stumble upon some unique points in the process. And a little bit speculation and observation doesn't hurt, either.
But how do you get someone to visit your article even? That can be achieved through a complicated-sounding but actually really simple process known as search engine optimization. As a writer, you do not really need to know the whole implication of this term, only suffice to know that it is a method by which your article is made to show up on the first few pages of Google and other search engines.
This kind of search engine optimization is done by winding your articles around a particular set of words which are most searched on the Internet. These word sets are known as keywords. Add the particular keyword several times in your marketing articles to show up on Google.
For example, if you have a website dealing with children's entertainment, you could use a familiar phrase such as 'fun games' several times in your article. This will be your keyword. Whenever someone types 'fun games' in the search engine, your article will show up.
There is a lot more to be learnt about marketing articles; this is only the beginning. But it is certainly a good start. Write an article and see how it comes out. There's always the next time if it doesn't hit the target the first time.
