There's one simple action you can take to solve any problem. No matter how big or how small the problem, this one action can propel you to incredible personal and professional achievement. The world's most successful people share this powerful, yet simple, technique. You've heard of it before, but perhaps you've never realized its potential. I'm speaking of decision-making.
Careers are made and broken, quality of life improves and suffers, through two avenues: making decisions, or failing to make decisions. The deciders are the ones who always get ahead, while procrastinators never seem to get anywhere.
Part of this is because successful people are competent at making decisions. That isn't to say that all of their decisions are good; rather, they know how to process data quickly and make a firm decision regardless of what others might think. They are confident in their judgments, and as a result, it's no surprise that decision-makers are the ones who earn the highest levels of income. Meanwhile, those who never make up their minds remain on the lowest end of the income scale. The decision-avoiders live a self-fulfilling prophecy, controlled by life's circumstances rather than controlling them.
Research has shown that highly successful people make decisions quickly and change their minds slowly, if at all. People who enjoy—and are capable of— making decisions all have one thing in common: a strong self-image. Top leaders know that making firm decisions builds a foundation for a higher quality of life—both personally and professionally.
On the other hand, people who rarely enjoy any level of success make decisions slowly, and change their minds often. These individuals are surrounded by conflict and confusion, the result of living in without resolution. Because they don't choose a side, they are left in the middle. Anyone who lives a fulfilling life understands that decision-making is something you cannot avoid.
Maybe you're thinking, "I'd like to get better at making decisions, but how do I start?" My answer is simple: the best place and time to start any new endeavor is always right here, right now. The best way to learn this kind of skill is to practice. Start making decisions. Don't be afraid of making mistakes—every mistake will make you a better, more competent decider. You will gain confidence from your success, and learn from your mistakes. Ultimately, your good decisions will help you get noticed and get ahead.
If you want to move your career, better still your life, to a higher level, you need to develop the ability to make solid decisions. Never question yourself about "how" something will happen. That isn't in your hands—it is up to the universe to provide the "how." All you need to do is make the decision to do something—anything. Then go out and do it. It's really that simple!
Let The Right Ones In
When it comes to making the perfect salad, you first need to learn a little bit about the different types of foods, which can be used. Many salads today will be a combination of several different ingredients each providing their own unique texture and taste the final salad. In this article, we will take a look at various different salad ingredients that you can use and which will help you hopefully to make the perfect salad every time.
1. Lettuce and Greens - Today you do not have to stick to the normal types of lettuce such as iceberg for producing the perfect salad instead why not try a few different alternatives. For example, you could use a butterhead lettuce, which comes with very tender leaves or a cos lettuce, which has a very coarse texture to it, but both will add a completely different texture dimension to the salad you are making.
If however, you are completely fed up of using lettuce in your salads why not try something completely different instead. You could try something like Arugula, which originates from Italy and has a tangy, but mildly peppery taste. Alternatively, for something a little more exotic and to provide a more eastern feel to the salad include some Bok Choy, which has a slightly bitter taste to it.
2. Vegetables & Fruit - Although many people prefer to stick with the more favored vegetables and fruits in their salads such as tomatoes or cucumber. There are plenty of other alternatives that they could try instead. Apples are an ideal accompaniment to any salad as they not only add sweetness but crunch as well. But for those who are considering using a plant such as Bok Choy in their salads to make something a little more unusual they could try combining it with bean sprouts, spring onions and cucumber. Then mix up a vinaigrette of sesame seed oil and soy sauce to drizzle over the top.
As well as replacing your usual salad ingredients with more unusual and exotic ones such as brocolli, carrots, beans and Bok Choy you should also include a few herbs into the recipe as well. Adding the likes of rosemary, garlic, cilantro or basil will further enhance the flavors of the ingredients you are already using.
3. Meat and Fish - A salad does not need to be purely made up of fruit and vegetables but can also be used in combination with other ingredients as well. One famous that is world renowned and uses meat (chicken) as a main ingredient in it is Caesar's salad. But if you are looking to use such ingredients in your salad then ensure that you do not use too much and where meat is concerned you use the leanest pieces possible.
However, you may want to include cheese rather than meat or fish into your salad. Plus a great way of adding some additional texture or crunch to the salad you are making is through adding croutons or nuts to it. If you choose to use nuts in your salad then go for the likes of walnuts, almonds or peanuts in it and preferably avoid those that have been ready prepared (such as pickled walnuts) or which are coated in salt.
When looking for the right salad ingredients for your salad it is vital that you go for the freshest ones possible. Avoid any kind of vegetable or fruit, which has markings on them or where the leaves have begun to wilt. Plus it is important before you place these ingredients together you thoroughly wash them although some come ready to use and in packaging they will have additives and chemicals on them which help to preserve them.
