Most individuals operate at less than 100%. In fact, the majority of people do not even tap into 50% of their potential effort. They have mastered the term “half assing it". Their days are spent putting out minimal effort. Ironically, it is these people who wonder why they cannot get anywhere.
People have a tendency to want to make drastic changes. This, they believe, is the key to creating an incredible life. While it is true that changes are often necessary, this only is a symptom of what needs addressing. What one is doing is minor when compared to how it is being done. Put forth a half-hearted attempt in anything and the results will be poor.
Living at 100% begins with what you are presently doing. Adopting this philosophy in all your affairs yields giant results automatically. Regardless of what you are doing at this moment, start doing it with all you ability. Put 100% effort into washing the dishes. Do the same with your workout routine. Copy that for your house cleaning. And, of course, carry this concept into your work. Perform all tasks to the fullest of your ability. This will enable you to counteract the habit of given a token effort.
Is it possible to do everything at 100%. The answer is that 'yes it is'. However, for one who is accustomed to exerting less then 50% is possible, 100% might be too large an increase. Nevertheless, simply being aware of the desire to increase effort generates better results. If you can summon 20%-25% more effort beginning this moment, the consequences of your action are much greater. Do this for three weeks and it will become your default 'effort level'.
Have you ever had the situation where you were working out, yet did not seem to have the energy to perform at your max? How was the workout? Did you enjoy tremendous results? You most likely did not. Or, have you ever had the occasion where your workout seemed to receive all the human energy that you had? How was that in comparison? I surmise the results you from that activity was terrific.
What was the difference between the two workouts? Obviously, the difference was the amount of effort you were able to muster. In the first situation, your exercise routine was done at 25%-30% of your maximum ability. Meanwhile, the second was much closer to 100%-perhaps 85%-95%. This single difference netted much different results. The same can be said for all areas of your life. Increase the amount of effort exerted to a minimum of 75%. This will go a long way in making your dreams come true.
A primary component of being able to put 100% effort into any activity is to streamline our focus. Naturally, there are times when you put everything you have into an endeavor. This often is something that we like and find interesting. Take the example of reading a book. For some, there are times when one can spend an entire afternoon reading something that is so interesting that it feels like 10 minutes went by. Before they know it 3 hours and 150 pages have passed. This activity is being done with 100% effort. The focus is exclusively on that book. All else is disregarded.
Implement this mindset into those activities that you find less than fun. Household chores are a wonderful place to gain some practice. Focus exclusively at the task at hand, ignoring what you have to do next. Put everything you can muster into that particular chore, no matter how menial it is. Remember, the important aspect here is to begin developing the habit. If you are washing the dishes, make it the best job you ever did. Cleaning the toilet; get it to where it looks brand new again. If you are able to increase you effort in these areas, then duplicating it in the more important activities will be easier. The concept is the same regardless of the activity.
Try this for a period of three weeks and you will see tremendous differences in your overall results. It will seem like you regain valuable time. When we increase our focus and effort, we complete activities in a shorter period of time. Those built-in time wasters disappear. Carry this into the workplace and you are surely to get noticed by your superiors.
Develop the habit of living your life at 100% beginning with the next activity you do. It will be one of the best strategies you will ever implement.

At that time it was considered that Victory Lamp Company was the only shop producing gas mantles. In 1930, Victory Lamp Company was worth $1,000,000 but due to some bad investments it went bankrupt.
