Make A Domain Name

    View:
One of the most important keys to owning a great domain name is keeping it simple. No one is going to remember a domain name with a long title, several characters within the title, and names with annoying cApS TaLk LiKe tHiS. Unless of course you're a 14 year old girl, still coming to grips with internet speak and the way to ?express? yourself through the amazing power of caps talk.

Here are a few examples of great domain names that you might use in a business; for example, if your business name is Mel Clarke Journalism, try something as easy as melclarkejournalism.com (or .co.uk, .com.au depending on your country).

Names that are exact to your companies name are obviously going to be the best bet when wanting to acquire a domain name that fits.

If for some reason, your perfect and simple domain name has already been purchased by someone, you may want to contact them and see if the name is available for repurchase.

Your domain name could easily earn you a great wad of cash, and be a beneficial factor to the success of your business online.

By purchasing the ideal domain name back from someone who has already bought it, you will be ensuring that all possible cash flow from Google searches will be going to you ? Not someone else.

If you're out of luck with the simple domain name that is exactly what you're looking for, then try changing up the title a bit. If you're running a promotional website for a company, try using the promotion's name instead of the company.

That way, the promotional name will stay in people's heads and act as another form of advertising for the company in mention.

If the domain name you're after is for a personal blog or website, then try to avoid anything that doesn't seem interesting, or bland. People often run to Google as starting point for topics that they're interested in. Unless you're adept at Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and can constantly plug your topic of interest or your name within your content, your website is not going to be found.

For interesting blogs on particular topics, clever puns or satirical homage to certain pop culture references often play down well with people who are going to Google the topic. Go Fug Yourself is a great example of a blog that does just that. An intriguing and hilarious blog about fashion and celebrities, the name is easily remembered and laughed at, and at the same time is almost controversial, so it makes the blog an interesting topic already.

So when choosing the domain name that's right and apt for you, remember the circumstances in which you are choosing them.

If it's for your business, keep it clean and simple and as close to your business name as possible.

If it's for personal uses, avoid something bland, make it interesting, and unforgettable; hopefully to gain as many readers as possible!
Make A Domain Name
Not only can you make money buying and selling websites, you can actually buy or sell domain names. Whether you sell a complete site or a domain name you will need to push it to the buyer's registrar giving them control over it. This can be done a number of ways to ensure safety for both the seller and the buyer. First off you should agree on a payment method, many sites that give you the ability to auction or sell your domain names often have a reputation meter. If they have, you should ensure that the buyer has built a good reputation and not been know for scamming people.

Once you have decided all that you have to login to your registrar (who you registered the domain with) and start the process off. If you registered it many years ago there is a big chance that you will have forgot it, if you have that is fine, you can do a simple whois search in order to find it in order to login using the username and password you set up when you originally signed up. If you have also forgotten them, fill in the ?forgot login details? form and they will send to your email address.

Once you are ready to push the domain to the successful buyer there are two main ways to do it, you can start the process off yourself by either entering the username of the buyer (if they use the same registrar which can work out cheaper as you wont have to pay the fee's, or at a cheaper rate) or you can find out which company they want to use and enter their ISP (this will often be given to you to avoid any mistakes). If you mistype anything the domain will get returned to your account but you have to be careful as once you press the submit button it will leave your account so you have no control over it.

You can then ask your buyer to login and accepted the transfer, this will then complete it and you just have to wait anything from 1-10 days for it to change over. There is another way which is easier for the buyer, if you give them your details they can request a transfer. This will then give you a notification in your registrar, along with an activation code which the buyer has to enter in order for the transfer to begin.
