Opening A Dollar Store - How Shoppers Shop

After opening a dollar store you will soon find that your shoppers have a preferred way to do their shopping. They have specific directions that they take when they enter your store. They have specific ways that they examine the merchandise that you have on display. By knowing the ways that shoppers prefer to examine merchandise you can increase your sales.

When opening a dollar store it is important to remember that shoppers prefer to look straight ahead when they shop. They may scan up and down slightly, but the products that are placed straight ahead are the most likely to sell. For that reason it is important that products be displayed in a striped pattern from the top of the fixture or display down to the bottom.

A rule of thumb is that products placed in the striped pattern need to be placed exactly in a row. This gives the store a clean and well organized appearance. It also makes it possible to stock more merchandise in a given area of the fixtures. When opening a dollar store this is another very important merchandising strategy to remember.

Striping can be done more quickly by setting one row, top to bottom on the fixtures. Place one each of the item to be stocked on a peg hook as you work your way down on the fixture. Once the peg hooks have all been properly placed proceed to fill all of the peg hooks with the merchandise. When you are opening a dollar store you will find that this method is quick and easy to complete.

Opening a dollar store requires that the entrepreneur know the preferences of store shoppers. Striping merchandise is one of those preferences. By striping you accommodate your customers and you increase the odds for higher store sales. Give it a try!
