Organic causes

Organic erectile insufficiency can manifest in many ways, but the core of the problem lies in arterial blood flow to and within the penis. In normal situation erection takes place as on receiving sexual stimulus, the blood vessels in penis expand to allow an increased volume of blood into the penis. This makes the penis increase in both length and girth. Still, the process of erection is not complete. The penis should hold the blood to sustain the firmness and rigidity until intercourse is complete through controlled ejaculation. Now a veno-occlusive mechanism ensures that bloods do not leak back into the veins to end the rigidity of the penis. Thus ED occurs when this flow of blood to the penis is impeded and capillaries do not function properly.
