Kittens love to play as well as adult cats. But they want you to interact with them during playtime.
There are four games they love to play.
?wrestling with their co-felines or a toy;
?scooping fish in the floor or any toy will do;
?bird swat, and;
?prey pouncing.
You do not have to worry if your kittens wrestle with each other. It is definitely normal in their behavior and they are not likely to hurt each other. You can join the fun but see to it that you wear protective gloves.
Scooping a fish literally means finding an object on the floor. They will scoop it over their shoulders, turn it up side down and pounce it. Similarly, in prey pouncing, they would use an imaginary prey or you can make a toy for this game, and they will run and try to catch it. When they do, they pounce on it. Usually, it is their mother cat's tail or your shoe or even another kitten.
Cats love to reach for dangling objects and toys. When they are successful in getting it, they smash it with one paw and finish off the prey. This is the bird swat game.
The difference in these games is that they are best with people's interaction. Oftentimes, cat's toys are free and you can readily make them but again, PARTICIPATION in the games is crucial.
Like in scooping a fish game, you can make your cat a toy with a feather string and a stick. You can enjoy watching your cat as he leaps for it. Once in a while let him get the thing so that he will not be easily bored.
Another good toy for cats is the classic crumpled paper. You can use it like a ball. Hide it behind your back, show it to your cat, and throw it. See how amazingly he will chase and tear it into pieces. Another handmade toy you can make for him is to cut up fuzzy pipe cleaner or make it into a ball and enjoy the same reaction from him as he chases and pounces on it it.
A popular toy that cats also enjoy is the grocery paper bag. You can do a lot of tricks to the bag and see how it can be fun.
Playing with your cats can be a totally hilarious and exciting experience.
Playing With Your Heart
Grandparents are supposed to have a strong connection with their grandchildren. This bond is important regardless of distance or the parents' relationship with their parents. Grandparents provide their grandchildren with unconditional love that makes the grandchildren feel safe and secure. This will also help them develop trust and independence. Their general health is also enhanced physically, spiritually as well as emotionally in the process since grandparents are usually very loving and caring. The grandchildren's learning and developmental skills could improve from engagement with grandparents.
Grandparents are also capable of teaching their grandchildren things that they would not get to learn anywhere else. The grandchildren will most definitely remember the knowledge, skills, attitudes as well as values that have been passed down by their grandparents. Most grandchildren who have a strong relationship with their grandparents are known to do well in school work and tend to have a strong sense of family as compared to those who do not have strong relationships with their grandparents. In order to make your relationship strong with your grandchildren there are a number of things you can do. One of these is to play with your grandchildren and there are some few tips you can follow. This does not mean that you will be going with your grandchildren to the movies or the zoo in some cases you even don't have to use money.
Playing with your grandchildren will not require much equipment or planning. Sometimes all you need to do is follow their lead because they are better suited to the games than you. They can teach you various games and you just need to go along for the ride. These games can also include computer games which you might not be familiar with and they can show you a thing or two. However, you may also know games of your own that could be of interest to the child because children are impressionable. Most old fashioned board games are still fun to play and they teach your grandchildren how to count focus, think creatively and strategize. These games include Candy, Snakes and Ladders, Memory, Checkers and you can also get them involved in games such as chess.
These games have equal chances of all players to win and they can be played by both kids and adults. You can teach your grandchildren lessons in fair play and taking defeat gracefully. Other interesting old fashioned games are the card games which can be played anywhere because they can be carried around easily. Examples include Go Fish, Old Maid, UNO, Hearts, Solitaire as well as Canasta. Organized activities are also very important this will help the kids stay in shape.
These activities include talking a walk together with them and teaching them a few things on the road. You can also fly kites, play badminton, play hide and seek or even go dancing. You can also leave the children to play on their own by ensuring a supply of art and craft material such as crayons, paper, stickers and the like. This will keep your grandchildren busy at all times and you will not hear them complaining of being bored. By playing with your grandchildren you will also be learning more about them and them learning more about you.
