Have you ever encountered the following scenario? You're working on something on your computer, either for work or for leisure, when suddenly an error message pops up on your screen saying something along the lines of “Windows has recovered from a serious error”? Then when you click “OK” you find that all your open File Explorer windows close by themselves, and don't reopen when your computer recovers from its hiccup. While you may not necessarily end up losing your precious work, it may still be a cause for concern to you, because if you don't deal with the problem you may end up encountering the error message after every restart, even if there are no other errors that have occurred after the original one. There are several possible causes for this particular error message. Usually when Windows recovers from a serious error it would indicate a problem with the system registry. The errors may come from the page file, so the solution to this problem is simply to recreate it. You can fix the problem by doing the following:

Go to Start and right click on My Computer, then Properties. Click the Advanced tab, then under the Performance section, click on Settings. This will take you to the Performance Options window. Click on the Advanced tab, and click Change under the Virtual Memory section. Under Paging File Size For The Selected Drive, click No Paging File, and click Yes when prompted by a warning message. Click System Managed Size, and click OK on all the open settings windows. You should then restart your computer.
