All sorts of ringtones are available for cell phones these days. The only limit on what ringtones you can use is the type of cell phone you have. Some phones allow you to set different ringtones for different people. You can choose one of the ringtones for friends, one of the ringtones for family, one of the ringtones for business associates, and one of the ringtones for unknown callers.
Many inexperienced Ringtone users may be overwhelmed by the technical jargon they encounter when trying to purchase or use a new Ringtone. Terms such as monophonic and polyphonic ringtones, MP3 ringtones or baud rate and the like are enough to shake many non-technophiles. But in general it's not that hard and the different Ringtones can be broken down to three different kinds that are in operation now:
1. A polyphonic ringtone means that two or more individual melodic notes and/or tones are played in tandem. This allows polyphonic ringtones to play different instrument sounds, such as guitar, drums, electronic piano, etc., at the same time. Current cell phone handsets can play four to forty individual notes and/or tones concurrently. Most of the current models of cell phones are able to download and play polyphonic ringtones.
2. An Mp3 is a compressed audio file. For years, music lovers have exchanged these files on the Internet, playing them on their PCs or from dedicated Mp3 players. MP3 ringtones can be classified into voice ringtones, sound effects and instrumental or lyrical music. All of said sets are available in MP3 ring tones. You will also be enchanted with the live band that is playing musical instruments while singing your most desired song. This is the service of an MP3 ringtone, a new wave for you to enjoy.
3. Monophonic is the simplest of ringtone technology that uses a MIDI format. This one note wonder changed ringtones and no more would you hear simple chirps and chimes, but rather, you could play a popular song. A single note playing a song resembles a monophonic ringtone sound. You can recognize your favorite song, but it sounds a little off, because there is not that much control with a single tone format.
Ringtones are available in various forms. They can be hard-coded onto your phone from the factory. In that case, you only have to scroll the phone menu and pick the one you would like to use as your tone. You can also download Ringtones from the web. In this case, you can use a data cable and transfer the files to your phone and then use as MP3 Ringtones. Ringtones on the web can also be downloaded onto phones through WAP services or SMS transfer. You can alternatively use the key press sequence offered by various sites. With this method, you only follow the steps on the web page to accomplish the composition. Lately, you can compose your own tones by pressing the various keys on your keypad to mimic various notes. Generally, the alpa keys on the phone correspond to the tonic solfa and with a little ingenuity you can compose some primary tones.

You have a strong opinion and aren't afraid to express what you think. While you listen to music frequently, you have a small list of favorites that you play again and again.
Recommended Ringtone: "One Step Closer" by Linkin Park or Rock ringtones
5-9 points: You're the type of person who does their own thing, is very opinionated, and has no fear of telling people what you think. You like being around people, but sometimes doing something solo is cool, too. The type of music you tend to listen to is a little under the radar to your friends, but you enjoy being on the cutting edge of what is out there.
Recommended Ringtone: "Take It Away" by The Used or Alternative ringtones
