Set Up Small Business

    View:
Most people write articles to generate traffic to their website. I like to write articles for cash. There is a subtle difference between the two writing methods. When writing for traffic, you have to target your article to the content on your website. Always. You should never deviate from that. It does you no good to get traffic looking for birdseed if you sell widgets. The people will stay a few seconds, determine that they have no interest in your product, and click out.

When writing for cash, you have a bit more wiggle room. I always write about how to make money with articles, but it is a very broad topic. Today I can write about websites, tomorrow I’ll write about something else. In the end, I always put two or three links in my Resource Box. That, along with the people who opt into my list is how I pay the bills.

But the main point is, regardless of whether you write to increase traffic, or your wallet, you need to write. One article per week will not do you much good. You might be able to limp along by writing five articles a week. But to really crank it up, you need to crank your articles out.

I once read that it is fairly easy to be better than 95% of the participants in any field. But to move through that top 5% takes real work and commitment. And so it is with writing articles. Writing five articles a week will make you more successful than 95% of the article writers, but you still won’t be making a livable wage.

I’ve always had a lot of success setting goals. Start out with something difficult, but achievable, and then make them progressively more difficult.

Start Out With a Small Achievable Goal

1) Set a goal to write 100 articles this month. Work toward that goal. If you fail to write 100 this month, start again next month. Do not move on to goal number 2 until you complete this goal.

2) Once you successfully achieve goal number 1, try to write 200 articles the following month. Believe me, it is a very achievable objective. Once you’ve written 100 articles in a month, you are capable of writing 200.

3) When you reach that goal, try to write 300 articles in the next month. If you fail in your first attempt, try again the following month. Don’t be disheartened, this is a very challenging feat, but it is achievable.

Once you’ve completed these three steps, I can almost guarantee that you will have attained a torrent of traffic flooding into your website and more web money than you thought you could earn in such a short time.
