Most people have wondered, at one time or another, if their partner was cheating in the relationship. When men cheat there are often signs which are blatant and obvious to a careful observer, but perhaps seem a great deal more subtle and easily missed by the partner in the relationship. Today we'll explorer some of those signs and what they might mean. Keep in mind that (for the most part) any one or even a couple of these things taken on their own is probably not an indication that there is cheating going on, as there can be several reasons for most of the things on the list occurring. If you do see a pattern of behavior developing which involves a combination of several of the following signs simultaneously then it might be time to get suspicious.



Emotional

* Distance. Does your man seem far away when you spend time with him? It might happen when you and he are alone together, but it could also occur when socializing with family or friends. You might catch him staring off at nothing or find his attention wandering in the middle of a conversation (unless it's the football game that's got his attention). Other manifestations can include acting like he wishes you would just leave or becoming overly affectionate to an unusual extent (compensating for guilt).

* Tension. Little things that were not previously issues in the relationship seem to trigger huge battles. It's easier than usual to find yourself in the middle of a big fight and a lot harder than usual to make up afterwards. After a big fight take notice of any strange behavior, espeically if he left in the middle of one and came back a while later.

Intimate differences

* Sudden changes in the physical relationship are often a tell-tale sign. Suddenly, he seems a lot less interested in the physical parts of your relationship.

* If he doesn't hug you or kiss you as long as he used to, that may also be a sign of cheating. Previously you would hold each other for a while and you had fun just kissing, but these small signs of affection will diminish or disappear, because someone else is receiving the real affection now.

Physical Details

Physical details are one of the most obvious signs of a cheat. Often, they are very easy to spot, but use caution because unless you are careful he may well catch on to what you are doing.

* Did he suddenly seem to develop a sense of style, dress nicer than usual or perhaps start wearing a new cologne?

* Keep an eye on his appearance. Is he noticeably ruffled when returning from somewhere, in ways that raise your suspicions? Look at his hair -- most men don't realize their hair has a habit of getting messed up slightly when they've been intimate with someone. You are bound to have picked up on this at some point in your relationship.

* Be especially suspicious of a clean, well-groomed man in times when no shower should have taken place. Guys are aware that the smell of another woman will linger, so a shower will be important after he leaves her. Look out for clean behavior!

When it comes to cheating, you should be able to trust your instincts. There will literally be dozens of different (often obvious) clues to pick up on; most people are not really surprised when the affair is confirmed, because they really already knew. Just to say it one more time: it is important to remember any of the above behavior can mean a variety of things and not necessarily an affair. The last thing you want is to start a fight over unfounded suspicions, especially not if that fight actually leads to him cheating! Try not to accuse until you know for sure.
