Many places on the internet that are pitching the latest and greatest innovation in internet marketing or online home based business opportunities paint a vivid picture of "little effort and lots of money."



But it's imperative that you understand something before you move forward with deciding on some internet income producing opportunity that you've seen. Do you want to know the number one reason why most people fail in a home based business-any business for that matter?

The real deal is that most people fail because they won't accept the responsibility for their success or failure personally. OK, that was vague. Let's get more specific.

How is that someone will work an opportunity and do absolutely nothing and claim that they have been scammed?

Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a lot of scams out there. I would contend the the majority of those who enter any of these programs have great intentions but become discouraged and give up. They'll do this even though the company they are in is legitimate.

There are lots of opportunities available that will make you lots and lots of money. In most cases they are proven marketing methods and have a history others having success with the system. Proving that it is indeed a legitimate opportunity.

Remember this one fact. If your success or failure is not in your control and therefore not your responsibility, then you have no control over anything. You don't even have control of your own life!

So your responsibility is for you to take the "bull by the horns" and make sure that you take responsibility for where you're at and that you understand that you are the only one that can make you achieve success.

So here it is specifically, spelled out and garnished for you. If you know nothing about a business and are expecting to jump in and start making a killing right away, then accept responsibility for the crash that's likely to be coming.

Internet business is much like any other business that you find at any mall or shopping center in America. Traffic is key. Then when you get the traffic, you have to have something that traffic wants. You have to have a way to entice your traffic to become customers. Then you have to have cash register to ring up the sale.

My advice is start with something simple, that you can have measurable success at quickly, while you are learning about things like "which mall or shopping center to locate in," or "where can I get a good cash register." Even the things you didn't think about ahead of time are VERY important to your success. For example, "What should be on my windows to draw a crowd of people to my store?" Translated to internet marketing it means, "What should I say in my initial ad to get people to click to my site.

Internet marketing is not simple, but simple enough that anyone with the desire and drive to hang in there can master. If you don't have it in you to persevere when things are not going as you had planned, don't give up and blame someone else. Take personal responsibility for what happens.

Fortunately, there are things you can do that while learning how to market on the internet in a step by step process you can be developing an income stream and that all important list!

Don't feel like you have to know everything about all the marketing techniques just to get started. It will leave you feeling very overwhelmed. My advice is pick something simple, learn and master one thing at a time. Before long, "you" will be the guru that people seek out.
