Time Management Tips Teachers

    View:
when I first started working from home, it was very overwhelming. There was so much to learn and so much information to sift through (not to mention still continuing the day job). Time management became an important put of my daily routine. If you are experiencing the same thing, here are some tips I use to help keep me focused.

One of the first things I needed to get a grasp of was my time. Time management is important to being able to juggle my job, coming home to my online business and have quality time for other things too like family, recreation and other important appointments.

Being organized and efficient all the time to some people is too cold and calculating. Some say you lack spontaneity But the fact of the matter is that people who are disorganized for the most part are confused and in any case under a lot of stress. You have more time and opportunity to be ttruly relaxed and happy when your are organized.

Negative talk from parents or family and friends can be a barrier from learning good time management skills. if family or close friends said you were never on time for anything or was disorganized. You may find yourself believing or saying to others that's the way you always been. One fact is nobody is born organized, efficent and neat. Time management and organizational skills are learned behaviors and if we have bad habits, we can learn good ones.

Here are 3 essential time management tips I use to keep me from procrastination and despair.

Use an appointment book that has a page for each day. Make yourself a to-do list for everything you need to do whether it's for work, home business or scheduled appointments.

Carry your list with you. I find that the most ideas and tasks come up when I am doing other things like driving or laying in bed. Having my list with me helps me to remember by writing them down while it is fresh on my mind.

You only have so much time in a day so prioritizing your list is important. As you complete a task, strike it out. What you don't do in that day, bring it forward for the next day or schedule it for a day when you can get to it.

Many people believe they don't have the ability to have good time management skills. They think that they just grew up that way. But there is no gene or chromosome for bad organizational skills and time management skills. Time management skills and time management behavior simply put is a matter of choice. Being good at organizing your time must first be learned then applied over and over again until it is automatic.

Time Management Tips Teachers
In today's society, we are overwhelmed with daily demands. We think having a few more hours in our day would solve our problems. Being more efficient and managing our time better, we believe would allow us time to ourselves.

Personally, I see the opposite happening. The female species are excellent multi-taskers and always looking for ways to do more things in less time. What do we do with that extra time? You guessed it, more things. So, instead of being tired at the end of the day, we are exhausted.

Time management tips are useful and necessary for some people. For others, it can be counterproductive. More stress can be present attempting to get extra done in the same amount of time.

Have you ever asked yourself the question why you don't have enough time in your day to finish all that needs to be done? Maybe, because your doing too much!

Reflect on that question. Procrastinating and not completing all your tasks is one thing. Going full steam ahead all day and still having unfinished work may mean you need to let something go.

Experiment this week with doing one thing at a time and be present while doing it. Have you ever completed a task or driven somewhere and not remembered. That is a sign of not being fully present. Our thoughts are not on the task at hand, instead, they are on what else needs to get done.

If multi-tasking is a must for you, add a task that will benefit your wellness. For example, listen to a relaxation tape while you cook supper, run on treadmill while you watch T.V., use commercials to do some deep breathing after putting sound on mute, and listen to motivational CD's as you drive.

Use time management tips wisely. Focus on making more time for you. Use that time for your own self-care. Do less of what you SHOULD be doing and more of what you WANT to be doing. That's the best time management tip I can give you!!!
