Toronto is a great place to visit - one of the largest metropolitan areas in Canada and the capital of Ontario. Toronto offers a variety of diverse cultural activities year round including Designs in Ice during December, Toronto Winter City Festival in January and February, Canada Day at Mel Lastman Square on Canada Day, and the Celebrate Toronto Street Festival running in the summer. There's never a shortage of fun events to do during a visit to Toronto.
No matter what time of day there is consistently always something to do in Toronto. One of many attractions is the CN Tower. At 553.33m tall the CN Tower is the tallest building in the world. There is an Outdoor Observation Deck and the glass floor is located 342m off the ground. If you care to venture up another 6m you can visit the Horizons Caf? and the Indoor Observation Deck. Another restaurant in the CN Tower is called 360. This restaurant is 351m off the ground and does a full 360-degree rotation every 72 minutes. This is an excellent way to enjoy a mouthwatering meal while getting a panoramic view of Toronto. If 351m isn't high enough for you thrill seekers try the Sky Pod. This is the highest observation tower in the world. The Sky Pod is an amazing 447m above the ground. The CN Tower is truly an astonishing experience.
For animal lovers, the Toronto Zoo is home to more than 5,000 of them from 460-plus species. The whole family will have a great experience here. The zoo is divided into sections representing regions of the world: Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Canadian Domain, Eurasia and Indo- Malaya. There are different levels from which to view the animals in their indoor and outdoor habitats. You can walk over 10km of trails. When you work up an appetite, you have at least seven different restaurants in which to have a meal. In addition there are many carts and snack bars where you can find tasty treats. Don't miss the Baby Komodo Dragons and the Sumatran Tiger Cubs.
It's easy to get around Toronto with several different types of public transportations available to you. Toronto's subway system is open weekdays and Saturday from 6:00am - 1:30pm, and Sundays from 9:00am - 1:30pm. The Toronto city bus system will take you downtown, out of town, and everywhere else.
Toronto is such a great vacation destination that a two- week visit almost doesn't give you enough time to see all of Toronto's many sites. Toronto offers something for everyone. Toronto is a wonderful metropolitan city for the entire family to vacation and enjoy fond memories.
