Planning a wedding is hard enough without our human propensity to forget things. Then when we forget something significant or don't plan well enough, something is bound to go wrong. Items that are valuable or significant may be forgotten or something could happen to make you late leaving the reception hall, which ultimately ends up costing more.



If you plan properly then you can avoid costly and unfortunate mistakes. Proper planning can also reduce the amount of stress that you are under, especially as you have enough to deal with getting ready for your special day. 1. Set a maximum for the amount of guests you invite. A big part of your wedding planning will revolve around the number of people you invite. If your invite list keeps getting bigger and bigger, you will have to dish out more and more money. This could also lead to not having enough room.

Generally, 80-85% of the people invited to a wedding show up; however, it is important to realize that some invitees will bring along a close friend with them. Plan your wedding as if everyone you invited will be there.

2. Know the basic rules and regulations of getting married. The laws dealing with marriage licenses vary in each state and sometimes in each county. It is important to have an understanding of the rules and laws that pertain to you. Take time to check up on all of these legalities way before your wedding.

If you are being married in a church you may need to find out if they have restrictions on the type of music that is allowed or they may even have a dress code. Some churches may have certain requirements regarding the ceremony.

3. Enlighten the vendors you plan to use about your ceremony. Make sure that all of the vendors you plan to use know the date, time, and location of your wedding. Besides these simple details, vendors will also need to know more specific things. It is a good idea to visit each vendor a week or so before your wedding to go over details to make sure that the vendor knows exactly what is going on on your wedding day. It is a good idea to make a small list of the vendors you are using and bring it with you on your wedding day with the vendor's contact information in case anything goes wrong.

4. If you plan to dye your hair, tan, or get any other type of beauty treatment, do it well before your wedding. If something goes wrong, you need to leave yourself time to fix it. If your hair dye comes out a totally different color, you still have time to fix it. Or maybe you go tanning and you burn. If you do all of this well ahead of your wedding, you still have time to fix any problems that may come about.

5. Be prepared. Of course we can't see what the future will bring, so having alternate plans is a must. For example if you are planning your wedding for outside then make sure that you have an alternate location indoors just in case the weather turns to rain. You should also see that someone is in charge of having an emergency sewing kit, first aid supplies or any other items that may possibly be needed...just in case.
