Whats Hot And Not

    View:
Appliances

The internet refrigerator is definitely sizzling hot. Technology savvy fridges have taken Australia by storm. These allow the users to almost wash their hands off the replenishing affair of the fridge. So, apart from talking to your fridge (and not being declared cuckoo), your fridge can actually connect to a specified local store and inform them about the need to replenish certain items in the fridge. As Sci-Fi as it sounds, the internet refrigerator has arrived and is definitely here to stay. So kiss your single door fridge goodbye and move on to these wonders that have been pioneered by such companies as LG.

Design

As far as the interiors of kitchens go, Australia has moved towards the bare minimal look this year. So, gone are the days of fancy and complicated cabinets and appliances with complex cornicing or patterned ceilings. The kitchen design popular in Australia is more of a simplistic nature. So, straight bench tops, which are not broken by steps and rises, open or plain cabinets with simply laid horizontal shelves, often with modern gloss or glass features complete the look. While the European heavy chandelier look has also gained some popularity in quarters, the simple modernistic design is definitely hot this year. And multi-coloured, complicated kitchen features have pretty much been kissed goodbye.

Finish and colour

As far as the finish of the kitchen goes, the gloss look is definitely in. Much opposed to the matt finish which was popular before, the smooth and shiny gloss effect is considered hot now. The charcoal grain look combined with a bright glossy colour seems to be the flavour of the season. Sometimes, the aesthetic pleasure of the feature is more important than the durability, which is a very common thing for the Generation Now mentality that is popular with us now. Having said that, we do suggest a durable vinyl wrap (which are available in gloss colours and or with patterns) as opposed to 2 Pack gloss finish, although the 2 Pack is a more felxible product regarding colour options.

Handles and knobs

In keeping with the modern trend which is invading the kitchens of Australia, the handles and knobs are also moving towards the chrome finish. More and more kitchens in Australia are being adorned by these, and they look really good. The handles are no longer small knobs but are rather large and are square in shape as opposed to the more popular round ones. As far as positioning goes the handles are mostly positioned right in the centre of the cabinet for both attention and convenience. Of course, this is very generic information, as the colours and styles of the doors are absolutely vital in the decision-making process for handles.

A little more on 2 Pack paint

The ultimate in painting of kitchens is the 2 Pack paint and Australian kitchens have adopted it like hot buns. Any colour that you can paint a car can be used, as its basically the same thing. So if youre really modern (maybe a bit gawdy?) you can even have paint that changes colour in different lights. Pretty cool, though a little easy to chip or scratch, so youre asking for trouble if you have young kids.

While these are just a few hot trends going around thes parts at the moment, it is not to say that these are rigid rules. So, if you have an idea about your kitchen, then go on and follow your heart. If not, then you could try out these ideas above or even mix and match to your hearts content. Note also that although the budget is more often than not the biggest barrier to these features, the right designer can help you get the look at a fraction of the cost, definitely paying for themselves in the process.
What's Hot And Not
Accessories! Lots of belts, handbags and shoes in the lines. With designers like BB Simon, Robbie French and Kippys, who can help but want some of what they've got? Every designer has their own twist, but the trend is definitely sparkly and bold.

BB Simon uses the finest Italian leather to create what have become some of the most sought-after belts in today's market. His unique collection of accessories, adorned with authentic Austrian Swarovski Crystals will bring out an "ooh" and an "aah" whether you are an average kind of girl that appreciates pretty things or a member of the elite group enamored with haute couture.

BB Simon has belts with crystals in a variety of tints for every conceivable occasion or season; if you don't like what they have in their line-up, you can custom order your own belt. All said, these are some of the most unique belts out there; similar to Kippys, but different.

Kippys belts are unique in that you can specify how wide you want them to be. Whether you're looking for a thin quarter inch or you'd rather have a bold belt that measures an inch and a half, Kippys will aim to please. Their belts give more of a naughty cowgirl feel when you slip them on. Adorned with crystals as well, this line sometimes skips the crystal-encrusted buckle that BB Simon is famous for and instead goes for a simple and understated solid centerpiece.

Loop one of these through your favorite pair of jeans - maybe even a pair from Kippys - and you'll have flash and sass all night long! And don't worry, you can shake it like you love it because Kippys guarantees both the crystals and the craftsmanship for the entire lifetime of the belt.

Robbie French spent 10 years in the mix of haute couture running some of the hottest bars in LA before she decided to start her own design company. Thank goodness she did because this girl has what it takes to dress A-list celebrities like Madonna and Nicholas Cage! If you've never taken a look at her buckles, you're missing out on a gem.

Ranging from pirate skulls to a Crucifix belt buckle, Ms. French has everyone covered. On a simple leather belt, these buckles make a statement that will have everyone looking your way - and asking where you got your great accessories!

Now that you've got your buckle down, what are you going to carry on your arm? Fee'fe Footwear has some of the hottest bags this season. In dark chocolates and black leather, they will go with anything and carry everything! It looks like the trend this season is headed back towards leather, so get ahead of the curve and grab one of these great bags now.

If you're looking for something larger than a purse to do work and social duty, try the new messenger bag from French & French. Accented with ostrich skin and littered with inside pockets to hold your cell phone, pens and files, this bag might just be your new carry-all. Bring out your inner rock star and carry the Volcano leather handbag by BB Simon; just like their belts, their bags are accented with colorful Swarovski Crystals.

If you do just one thing this fall, grab a great belt and wear it with everything! Enjoy the trends this upcoming season and if you're wearing one of these designers, anticipate lots of attention!
